  1. Ahh, a new "Dark Age" beauty for my collection. These late 50's DC Fantasy titles are grossly underrated (and undervalued too!).
  2. That's a fantastic book -- I'm glad you liberated it. Congrats!!!
  3. Here is another nice "Dark Age" issue of House of Mystery...
  4. So many books are slabbed now. It's nice to see a nice raw copy like this. Mike Agreed, what a beauty. the guy at bottom left is yelling "they forgot to draw the wings on his ankles!!!!" That dude looks like a reject from a Kurtzman "Hey Look!" Psst...there is a sales thread for this book! http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2791410&Board=56&fpart=all&gonew=1#UNREAD
  5. Nice books!!! I tend to think that orange and brown must have stood out more on the newsstand. There are just so many orange monsters with a brown background that their must have been some rationale behind it! I wonder if anyone ever asked Stan or Jack? Bill
  6. Oh, i think these stories have some great charm. I really like the stories of young Namor growing up in Atlantis. Kind of reminds me of the Tales of Asgard series with young Thor & Loki!
  7. Flash Uber-Key, 1st SA app of the original speedster and 1st app of Earth-Two!
  8. Super-nice Atlas Namor -- some of the best Subby stuff Everett did was during this period! Bill
  9. Avengers #4 is overrated! This is really Cap's first SA app. Ok, so the Acrobat used red trunks instead of blue..You can tell that Kirby was excited to do this -- as the art is way above the norm of his typical Torch stories.
  10. Here is another nice HOM cover. One of the better "riding on a monster" covers of the SA.
  11. Nice Kirby western thar Bill, ya onery cud-chewin cow poke. Them thar Kirby Rawhides are mighty raw in decent condition!
  12. This is a great issue. In here, you have one of Maneely's last published stories -- in the DC "house style, some great fantasy from Superboy artist George Papp and a wonderful Moreira cover-story. This cover kind of reminds me a bit of Weird Science #12...but the cover here does more with less...
  13. Yup. That exact scene is in the last story. That cover reminds me of a GET SMART episode where the American Indians declare war on the US govenment and their secret weapon is -- a giant arrow!
  14. After taking a longer, harder look at ST #97, I have decided that the cityscape on this cover has a partial wash-tone effect.. Thoughts?
  15. Thought I would register some of my recently scanned pre-hero ST covers. Love any Eqyptian/Sphinx cover.. Can you say: "Thing prototype"? The very finest ST cover...I would go so far as to say that the cityscape has an almost partial wash-tone effect.
  16. Hey BEACHCOMBER, Really nice set of SA and BA Hulks! Do ypu have any HG TOSs?
  17. Those first 2 issues has some great Andru and Esposito art. Great stuff!
  18. Hey, that Rip #1 is really sharp! Got more?
  19. Here are a nice duo of early Rip Hunter and Cave Carson try-outs... With all the recent talk of partial wash-tones, I'm gonna say that the B&B #40 has a partial wash-tone effect...at the bottom of the cover by the Mole Machine.
  20. Nice cover! That's a great book and, like you said, crazy tough to find in high grade. Too bad Cave's popularity never took off -- those are great stories and art! Bill
  21. Another recent ebay aquisition. I am such a sucker for a canary yellow cover -- with a DC take on the CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON!
  22. Yeah! I believe the Comic Code Authority required proper coverage of all naughty bits for all humanoid monsters.
  23. Another recent ebay aquisition. I am such a sucker for a canary yellow cover -- with a DC version of the CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON to boot!
  24. A new member of my TOTU team. Another really nice black outer space cover. Oh, yeah... its the second app. of that Space Ranger guy...
