  1. How about a little underwarter sci-fi? Inside. there is a really nice Williamson story.
  2. I always liked the Ka-zar storyline. One of the best runs that Marvel put out in the 80s was their "direct-market" Ka-zar series...great stories, great art.
  3. Very cool book Bill Thanks, I love the MH collection! pssst..its for sale in the Sale forum... http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2680273#Post2680273
  4. Mohawk Valley copy. Those post-Kirby books are a bit underrated.
  5. My 2 girls love comics from the 50s as well. I found a great '50 comic booknewspaper strip site run by fandom's own Ger Apeldoorn. Great Stuff! Bill http://allthingsger.blogspot.com/: Alot of OA stuff too!
  6. I have probably posted these before, but since we are in a HOS mood, here are some nice Mark Merlin covers:
  7. Hola! Another great TOTU joins my collection. Wonderful Mort Meskin cover. (pssst...join the Mort Meskin Yahoo group -- this gives an interesting insight to this underrated 50's artist). Bill
  8. My favorite JIM cover. Kinda reminds you a little of FF1, Ditko style! The splash page for Rro is by Kirby, the rest of the story by Heck. Quite a little gem!
  9. Love those Mark Merlin covers. Very underratted... Here is a new member to My MGA collection: Great Moreira cover!
  10. Here is one of my long-time secret grails...Behind this great Severin cover is a nice little Kirby gem...“The Vengeance Of Growling Bear”. This was one of the few Kirby pre-implosion Atlas stories -- right around the same time as THE BLACK RIDER RIDES AGAIN came out.. Here is an image of the story (from the Kirbymuseum.org)
  11. Thats a great cover...really nice book!

  16. Those are some great covers. Love that Frogman cover! The WW 107 is also a fantastic cover..it inspired me to post some of my early Silver Wondies...
  17. My Atlas collection is limited to all pre-hero fantasy books, 50's post-code sci-fi, and a smakeral of the odd Kirby westerns and a few other goodies... I could'nt imagine a complete run of Atlas from the late 40's to the early 60's -- that would be some collection!
  18. I have but haven't got around to sit down and read. I am waiting for the right time so I can quietly enjoy the interview (thumbs u I posted a page from it in the other PCH thread you might have seen it. I really enjoyed the Lou interview in AlterEgo. He is quite a colorful character. I am eagerly lookig forward to the second part next month! I hope he gives us some insight to the DC bullpen of the 50s! Bill
  19. Silver Surfer #1 also has a Hulk flashback.
  20. Hey Brass...ASM Annual 3 (11/66) How about FF5? Johhny is reading a copy of HULK #1 and the Hulk is clearly shown for a few panels... I was told that this was FF4 that he was reading copy and that FF5 had a full page ad for Hulk 1...can anyone confirm with some scans please No, it was 5. Johnny was reading a Sub-Mariner comic in 4. In 5 he's reading Hulk. And you call yourself a BigHulkFan...tsk tsk There is also a Hulk cameo in both FF Annual #1 and Spider-man Annual #1

  22. This is a very nice book, especially so in grade. I start my Marvel collecting with Kirby's full-time return to Marvel in July of 1958 -- but it's instructive to note the earlier work. One wonders, if not for the Altas implosion immediately after the publication of this first issue, as to whether Kirby might have had the opportunity to remain on this title. I am not sure when you speak of the "Dark Age" Kirby as to whether or not the "Dark Ages" refers to interregnum period between Atlas and Marvel or to a period in Kirby's own career, but it would make a good description of that Atlas/Marvel period when they were the "company with no name". I've heard the term "Dark Age" refer to the time just after the Comics Code to the time around the Atlas Implosion. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Bill
  23. Actually...If you ever decide to I would appreciate a shot at it...although I doubt the newness will wear off soon ...the newness of my VG+ still hasn't worn off after 2 years.I wonder if there's a White Mountain copy....your's may be the best, I haven't checked the census.GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u Last time I looked, this was the only one on the census. There very well could be a River City or a White Mountian out there that may do this one better.
