  1. I know these are not golden age WWs, but I knew you guys would appreciate how rare these puppies are and would enjoy them! Bill
  2. Yup., its a swell cover alright...That Jerry looks awful mean!
  3. I love WW in Darwyn Cooke's NEW FRONTIER. Its refreshing to see Diana with a full figure (ie big cans & fat arse) rather than that tall skinny thing running around in her title today! Bill
  4. Some of the best TOS covers popped up just after the title switched over to horror: Here are some of my favs: Bill
  5. Haven't seen any posts from Pete for a while. Why do people pay so much for this book? Rare "2 chicks in bikini" cover?
  6. Here are a couple of super-nice Northland issues that I purchased many moons ago from Motor City... I will be putting these up in ebay shortly. Enjoy! Bill
  7. OOOO LA LA! ...Zat Marie is magnific! Tres buen!!!
  8. Hey Mick, Got any nice SSWS Mademoiselle Marie covers to post? Bill
  9. So with regard to these comic panels, Lichtenstein's artistic genuis does not lie within his own ability to create art, but his ability to pick out a panel from a comic book and see that it gets the proper attention is drawn to it... I still don't buy it...but then again. what the hell do I know about "the world of fine art"? Bill
  10. I know this topic has been brought up in other threads, but I just dont get how people can call this guy an "artistic genius"... He basically just copies panels out of comics, re-colors them a little, changes the lettering a bit - and calls it his own. One could probably pick up the original comic book art for the war and romance comics used as "inspiration" cheaper than picking up one of his works in some upscale art gallery. Go figure... Bill
  11. I am curious...in the rest of the series' run, did Phantasmo ever take on a "lady friend"?
  12. That's a great Russ Heath LORNA. Please share the story behind you getting it! thanks, Bill
  13. Wow! Those Lou Fine pages are really something else. I hope someday DC puts all those Lou Fine issues of CRACK and SMASH into an archive edition. Wouldnt that be something nice to have under the Christmas tree! Bill
  14. I posted these earlier this week in the Western thread, but what the heck.... Annie get your gun!
  15. I love these things! Hey Flee, how many pre-hero Marvel covers have you animated? Bill
  16. Hey, remember gang, the pre-hero era doesn't end immediately after the heroes took over the books. TOS, TTA, ST, and JIM still had fantastic Ditko and Heck back-up stories for about a year into the hero's run -- well into late 1963. JIM had non-Thor fantasy stories up to 99, TOS up to 48, TTA up to 51, and ST up to 113. These are truly the most overlooked issues. Bill
  17. This whole cover is beautifully composed. Is this contemporary with the Phil Silver's Show? Dennis I just LOVE this cover. Barney Barkers are IMPOSSIBLE to find in high grade. Barker was a Bilko wanna bee..but these books are much nicer than DC's Sgt Bilko comics. Bill
  18. I would say with certainty that Strange Worlds and the Ditko/Kirby issues of World of Fantasy are definitely "pre-hero". I would not limit the term "pre-hero" to just monster covers or to just issues of the "BIG 4" before their respective heroes took over the books. The term "pre-hero" means to me any late 50s/early 60s Atlas fantasy books with stories by Kirby/Ditko or Heck. Bill
  19. Love those early STRANGE ADVENTURES covers. Got any 50's Sci-Fi AVONS? Bill
  20. they are beautiful; the guy actually laser scans the 'real thing' into his computer, enhances the defects away [damn, i hope i didn't just get him in trouble with NOD], and produces an amazing product on really good paper stock. do a search for those books--hope he has one or both. I've got a birthday coming up next month. I think I'll ask my wife for those as a gift. I bet those EBRs would look great on a bookshelf next to the KONG and UNIVERSAL G&D Photoplays..
  21. MMM, ladies in high heels and a straight jacket... now THAT's HOT!
  22. Oh My!!! I have been a ERB fan for many years and this is such a wonderful book. That and the Feature Book 26 make us Foster Fanatics just melt!! Bill
  23. MMMMM... Me want Frogman comics....
