  1. broncho bill??? does he have a super lungs?
  2. so, what you are saying then, is that to preserve the effects of pressing, one should quickly place the book, untouched, inside a hard protective case... and leave it there indefinitely.. mmmmm
  3. INSANE is right! wowiezowie. I love it.
  4. wow. thats Japanese octopus cover is amazing! Shoulda been in the GA contest.
  5. hey Ze, when is your store opening? and will you have a website? couldnt resist.
  6. hey Ze - - while you are at it, take a few books with assorted creases and place them under some heavy stacks of books... an dleave them there for a year. And research the whole Church Effect thing. Its a slow go of course, but no time like the present to start!
  7. I think initially, books 'only' pressed would be massacred in price like other PLODs are. In time, they would peobably be the first PLODS accepted back into the fold. But, thats what I think would have happenned had CGC PLODded them from the gitgo. At this point, there are already a lot of "otherwise" very bright and sincere comic collectors who just dont mind pressing (for profit or otherwise.)
  8. I think its safe to say that in time, the Stan Lee File Copies will be files away as a marketing phenomenon of some success, but little more.
  9. many of the books were much worse, werent they? these look nice enough.
  10. I agree. But back in 1964, Stan had a finite line of titles... and he wroye nearly all of them. He certainly remembered the basics like which villain first appeared where and whether he had reappeared anytime after that. But we all know Stan's memory fordetail was not a strong suit. Robert Banner became Bruce Banner, didnt he?
  11. Stan was top writer and Editor in Chief, but except for the first year or so, Im pretty sure Stan himself didnt actually look up the referenced page #s. He probably just marked where to put the notes and what to say in them... I mean really! he had to write 12 books or whatever a month! He was a busy beaver.
  12. Im sure neded the books to know what he wrote LAST MONTH!
  13. Ive often questioned the origins (secret to be sure) of the "Stan Lee Copies" Stan always said if he knew comics would be worth so much, he would have saved his. And then there is the story of how his collection was water damaged in the basement. My personal opinion is that he was offerred a chance to market 'his' collection, and it consisted of a box or two that he still had plus other stuff thrown in. Im just too cynical I know. but - - even with Stan saying he never kept any and losing many to water damage, It isnt too hard to believe that 1) Stan did accumulate boxes of books he took home over the years, etc, and that 2) not ALL of them were waterlogged. Also, Stan lived on Long Island in the 60s, so any Stan Lee copies from later on could easily have been "his" copies from home, or LA or the NY office. So, I can believe that STan had a few hundred Marvels sitting around.
  14. Im thinking I saw a few on ebay, like the Adv 253 and an Action under 240. I could be wrong, I was mostly denigrating my cojones to go after them... or similar copies.
  15. wow! amazing stuff. I see a few I think I bid on but didnt persevere to win. Now Im sorry!
