  1. Label says Giordano, but that's got to be Neal Adams You could be right, although GCD also says Giordano. Of course it's Adams looks more like Sparling. Even Giordanos early Adams inks (and this is 1968) didn't obscure this much of Adams pencils if Adams had penciled it. The only Adams I can see is the girls face and the man's pants folds.
  2. Considering that a 9.4 copy has not sold publicly in many years, it's tough to guess what would be a high, or low, 9.4 bid. This sale will likely blow the last one out of the water, leaving us to argue whether it went cheap or not, since expectation will run high.
  3. there was talk about a second 9.6 selling last year.. no confirmations anywhere though. This is the first inkling that another 9.6 was sold.
  4. Thanks but I really don't count the Det 33, 35 or 37 to be in this group. These are comics that I believe require a fanboy like us to appreciate and spend silly amounts on. Yes on my Cap 1, Bat 1 and Det 31. Forget Action 1 and Det 27 those are on another planet and IMO have less room to go up in value. Some examples of what I'm talking about are unrestored low grade Superman 1, Action 7, Bat 1, Cap 1, Det 31, All-Star 8 etc. Less room to increase in value? That's a matter of selective statistical analysis. With Action 1 and tec 27 already worth millions, you're really talking about the possible % increase. But, to your net worth, a small 3 or 4% increase is 100K... It's a negligible % increase perhaps but still 100K , whereas the lower valued books have to double in value, or increase say 30-50% to net the same increase in dollars... Feels like the upside is still on the big boys...even at their current values.
  5. Looks pretty sweet to me. Is this a new copy or an upgrade? It's the first new 9.4 in years!
  6. yeah maybe so. I need to pay more attention! : )
  7. Yeah, I remember the cancellation, but figured they'd keep them in order. Duh. Thank you both. I couldn't figure out how they'd put the genie back in the bottle on that plotting unless they went all Weisinger and said it was a dream or imaginary story, or had her sister fly by the window in the super suit. Or even kinkiest, have Jonn Johnnz morph into Supergirl! Oooh, that would be very 2015 wouldn't it? Actually, there are many possible ways they can roll it back in homage to the old stories. Adding Cat to the circle has its upside (for Cats character particularly) but so many people already know. Then again, she doesn't really look that different with and without glasses, so those closest to her should figure it out, but it's always been Supermans ongoing excuse in the mythology.
  8. Thanx. Weird though because I watched them on demand, and they all had dates, so I watched them in "chronological order;maybe I didn't look close enough at the dates. Hey another question.. Why does Helen Slater look so different, even "off"? She's older sure, but her face doesn't look the same at all.
  9. Question. An episode or two ago, can't remember cause I fell asleep watching it too late on demand, Cat Grant accused Kara of being Supergirl. But in the Live Wire episode afterwards, she no longer seems to think so. Anyone know why or what I missed?? Thanx
  10. no. born that way, but looks like more than 1/4 inch. it wasn't a press realign job, the FC has white on the far right indicating that more paper than was intended got trimmed while making the cover forcing FC image onto the back...
  11. thats a huuge miswrap too... Hulk 1 mania!
  12. the guys are scared shirtless, but the dog is ready to go!
  13. Yes for a time around the Sothebys auctions, restoring keys was the profitable way to go with say, a VG copy. But the story with Mark was he couldn't resist "fixing" the books, even some Rockfords… even after it was no longer the thing to do…. and others were pleading with him to ignore the urge to perfect them...
  14. Kirkman got to rethink his story and characters, with the help of TV people.
  15. Then again… why would she leave and tell Carl "trouble is coming" or something like that? It's not like we have any indication that she lived in other communities that fell apart, leading her spider senses to tell her to get out of Alexandria before its too late… It all depends on how long ago she saw her parents killed, a few weeks, months or years. The longer it was the more probability theres more to her story. and, lets face it, giving her a quick backstory is probably very telling…. she's a character we will see more of, otherwise, why the back story? not everyone gets one.
  16. Bingo good article. Way too coincidental she decides to leave the same day the town gets attacked. There was a short moment, when Carl tells her she's staying and he'll protect her. He sits down on the floor, with his back to her, and she pulls out her knife, standing over him...then turns and sits with her back to his. For a moment there it looked like she could be attacking him, just before she sat down. I noticed that, too. I agree with the article, too much coincendence going on for her not to be a spy of some sort. Wasn't she saying that a place like this has to many blindspots and that's how we.....and carl cut her off and he didn't catch that unless i misheard her trying to confess to him that she's been spying to them. We were shown her WHOLE origin story at the beginning of the episode, why would anyone think she is a spy? This Spy theory was debunked at the beginning of the episode.... duh! I think the turtle scene and watching her parents get murdered in front of her was to show what she had been through and what she had to do to survive. I think that was all to delve into her mental status and should have led the viewer to think - she's not all right in the head. But you watch it and forget. I didn't think there was anything suspicious or wrong with her watching the episode. But after reading that article, I think she is a spy.. I think the Wolves are too organized for what they are. A bunch of loons running around pillaging, murdering and creating chaos. I think they are being used as pawns to create fear and that someone will show up later on saying "it's a crazy world out there and you need protection. Have you encountered those crazy Wolves yet." I think the girl is a spy for Negan. she may be something more than a poor lost girls, but if Negan found her, she'd be in his harem! the unexplainable thing about here is that we first meet her wandering outside the walls. If she was only out there a few weeks, she wouldn't be "nostalgic" for the freedom of the wild… shed be happy to be back in civilization. If she has an agenda of some kind, and Im sure they'll fill in the blanks at some point. But she could just be a damaged girl from her life experiences in the zombie apocalypse.
  17. Before they retreated, one of the Wolves told Morgan something about how they were "forced" to do the stuff they did. it wasn't just for fun and he seemed to be saying "someone" (Negan?) was making them go on these rampages. feels to me that the producers won't stall getting Negan into the picture. TV shows don't last forever, and they may be looking at 8-9 seasons tops, fading out with Rick and company rebuilding civilization as they're doing in the comics… and three years later --- a movie (or three)
  18. Yeah, that 80 Page Giant #1 messed me up for a number of years - because it says "Superman Annual" along with the "Issue #1" I had it on my spreadsheet as Superman Annual #1. Then many years later when I bought what I (then) knew to be 80 Page Giant #1, I discovered that not only did I have two copies of the same book, but I was missing a (now very expensive) Superman Annual #1 that I thought I had. Great post AdamStrange! And looking at the cover of 80 page 1 so many times over the years, I never noticed a revealing key to DCs change in publishing plans. Notice how oddly shaped the burst around 80 page giant is... Look at the bottom edge. It's not at all a burst, it's the bottom edges of the word GIANT that was changed by just adding burst effects to it!! It was cheaper and easier to do that than re work the logo with an actual Superman Logo... Such was the effort at quality standard back then.
  19. Exactly. A perfect Straw Man team up argument appearance.. Not his first sadly.
  20. 21 for me... And I'm still voting 54. You don't get to 60 without 54. And 60 can never be 54 because 54 did it first.
  21. With what I'm. Seeing on books like this, tough books in grade, especially DCs, with sparse censuses, is a growing comfort level at paying 5-15K now, for the same books that were going for 3-5K years ago. There's too many far easier keys and minor keys that sell for the low four figures that have made paying more for much tougher books easier to swallow. Ten is the new five so to speak.
  22. Yes, as in calculating MID-mid grades to the tenth. We all do it, I was just making a joke. I could've said " math make hulk head hurt! Another great quote I like that's used here a lot..
  23. And they assured me there'd be no math on this exam!
