Authenticate maybe, but grade? Condition matters, but not the same way it does in comics. And, why assume that CGC would do it? You'd need a whole new department of experts anyway.

I have the book now and can comment. It looks MUCH worse in the scan. From arm's length I can't even see a hint of it. I'm psyched. My DD run now has Green River, White Mountain, Bethlehem, Pacific Coast, Western Penn, Northland and Curator.

I finally won a Western Penn Daredevil.

I'm pretty sure this is what happened. I think it was the third month for the 30 centers. I'm not sure about the 35 centers.

With the exception of Gaines File copies (and even including those, really)- infinitely harder.

There's a thread in the Grading and Restoration forum that deals with that very topic. Board member DiceX is a printer who answers all sorts of questions.

That's an error. CGC does make mistakes. There are a handful of price variant errors that they've let through. Mostly missing them when they weren't notated by the submitter.

Why do I foresee the new owner suddenly selling a single cover version of this one (and getting a single cover CGC 9.2 out of the deal as well)? BEWARE the married cover!! Beyond the fact that people are bidding on it because they value double covers/ price variants and this is basically a unique example of both; it's highly unlikely unless the new owner is in the habit of intentionally trying to lose money. It's already selling for more than two separate copies would sell for raw and I'm guessing this book isn't done moving up $$-wise. To win this will take a bid of psychotic proportions.

That's exactly what I'm getting at. This book they bump up to 1500 while guide for price variants is still languishing in lala land.

That spike in the guide was so crazy. It was based off of just a couple of sales I thought, which isn't standard operating procedure over there.
