  1. I don't really think of myself as a "collector", but I have a decent cellar. At present time it's mostly Bordeaux but I've got representation from all over- the Rhone (Chateaufeuf du Pape and Cote Rotie), German Rieslings, Italians (Barbaresco, Barolo,) Aussie Shiraz, etc. I also collect first edition books, movie posters, and art (comic and otherwise.)
  2. ST 114 features a sort of Captain America "tryout." This guy named "The Acrobat" dresses up like Cap in the story. The actual Steve Rogers/Captain America character doesn't actually (re)appear until Avengers #4. Hence, Avengers #4 is his true first SA appearance and CBG is just being silly again.
  3. I love that cover because of the heroic, symbolic scale. The massive figures smashing the doll's house Nazi castle- Schomburg was amazing.
  4. Edgar Church's books were stacked floor to ceiling. Book lower in the stack have insane levels of preservation because the weight of the books above created a basically anaerobic environment. No spine roll on those. He may have alternated spines. I'm not sure about that though. Who knows, the weight of everything may have just flattened the stacks like a pancake.
  5. here's the thread, in case you're intererested: http://boards.collectors-society.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=comicsmarket&Number=192199&page=1&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=31&fpart=all As for your comments, blaming Darth because YOU BACKED OUT ON A DEAL is lame kid stuff. Also, pretending that the only reason we gave you a hard time is because you're a newbie is denying the obvious- we gave you a hard time because you backed out on a deal with and acted shabbily toward someone many of us have had nothing but positive experiences with both buying and selling. Beyond even personal experiences, tell me honestly, who would you believe in a situation like this: an Overstreet Advisor/ Power Seller with 1000s of positive feedback or some guy whose two most obvious ebay handles are naru'd?
  6. I agree. I hate then people think that low grade copies have no value. Isn't this one of the most expensive silver age books? It's #7. It books for $11,000 in NM.
  7. Can I just say that people being shocked that this book has bids bothers me? It's an X-Men 1! It IS valuable even in PR and it has absolutely nothing to do with the CGC holder. A lot of people want to have a key book like X-Men #1, but most people that want one don't have thousands of dollars to spend on a high grade copy. So, instead, they get a low grade copy- maybe incomplete, or they get a really solid, readable copy with nice paper and one gigantic flaw. This would also be a perfect research copy. There are plenty of comic collectors out there that are not condition obsessed.
  8. My bad.. I should look in the Silverage section more often huh. Cant see it there... whats remaindered mean? The thread: http://boards.collectors-society.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=silver&Number=191173&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1
  9. This book was posted in the Silver Age forum I think. And it is an X-Men #1, even if it is remaindered, so of course it's got bids.
