  1. I don't remember that book at all. I had all the 80s joe stuff. Was it regional or anything? Anyone have one of these? Anyone seen one of these before? Just curious.
  2. I just don't know. I don't remember where I got it. I did buy a huge collection about 15 years ago in Cleveland, Ohio. I am sure that this book was from there. Probably. Maybe.
  3. I just found this one. Didn't know I had it. I don't even know how long I have had it. Magazine sized and in excellent condition. Anyone else have one of these? Image Hosting I just opened this magazine for the first time, to see who published it. It was published by "Telepictures Publications", and has a four page fold out poster. However, I can not take a pic of the poster because it is attached to the books two spine staples. This mag also has glued to the back inside cover page, a smaller booklet of G. I. Joe gear that can be purchased I guess for G. I. Joe figures. This smaller booklet is about 6 to 8 pages. This is a sweet magazine for a G I Joe collector.
  4. Here is Bingo, the Monkey Doodle Boy Vol. 1, #1. Double cover. This same book was issued in 1951 and 1953, by St. Johns Publishing. This is the 1953 version. I do not know what the 51" version looks like. Strangely enough. I had the book for ten years before I knew it was a double cover. (note to self: check the darn books before you buy them). Image Hosting Here is Hunted #2, from Fox Features. There were only two issues in this run and the first issue was numbered #13. The run used to be called My Love Memoirs. Issue #13 (#1) was used in SOTI for "treating police contemptuously". What makes this double cover nicer than usual is that it is from the Davis Crippen 'D' pedigree. Also, it is the highest graded I believe. I never could quite make out what that girl in the window is doing. Is she shot? Or dressing? Image Hosting
  5. I am still waiting for Blue Beetle #43 to "surface". Wouldn't that be something.
  6. Well, she could have money coming out of her ..........ears. But, yea, what a talent.
  7. A recent acquisition that is possibly my favorite:
  8. Sell it to me for less than I am getting ready to buy one for from another source. Look into my eyes...............Relax...........think about Sarasota Florida....the warm breeze............the free comic books Borock left on a stolen shopping cart on his front sidewalk.........yours for the taking...........Borock is fast asleep on a lawn chair in his back yard............all CGC 9.8's and all X-men and Spiderman...........you are getting sleepy.......sleepy.......sleepy......... Sell it to me for under a hundred bucks shipped..................do as I say and all the world will be right................sleepy.......sleepy
  9. Does anyone have the Shrugged! #3 Wizard World Texas Exclusive VIP Variant 'Yellow Negative' Signed by Michael Turner CGC Signature 9.8 and if so, do you want to sell it?
  10. Thanks to BrianR for a great looking HOS #103 (better than he graded it I think)and the two FREE books he included with my purchased book. Awesome transaction.
  11. Wow! Are you his Mom? No silly. Of course not. I have never met him but I have read his writings and sales threads here, and I have conversed with him via PM's for a short while now about a book he offered to sell me, and going by my PM's with him concerning said book and by his responses to others here concerning "issues" they have with him about books, prices and pressing, it seems obvious to me that he just doesn't care a whole lot if you or anyone else buys his books today. It seems to me that he is confident in his books selling tomorrow or the next day, and that he is confident in knowing that what he currently owns will only be more valuable in the near future. I would be astounded if he does not have some of the finest and highest graded books of any of us here, and amazed if he doesn't have some real surprises in his "storage" place. Of course I could be totally wrong. I actually could be his mother on Bizarro world. Which I think could actually be THIS world, after reading some of these posts. Maybe we should all pick one day to post everything like a Bizarro would. You know. Like Joe Collector saying nice things to someone, or maybe cujobyte praising our current President, or maybe even sborock saying that this or that particular book is diffinitely not pressed. Maybe we could all say, in unison, that Ebay is a wonderful tool for selling our most prized books, or for buying great books. Naw........forget I said all of that nonsense. Let's get back to more "pressing" issues.
  12. I think that some of you don't understand that Steve is not real concerned whether he sells his books today or next week. He knows that what he has, is going to sell, so he is "carefree" and not about to bend over backwards for a potential buyer. Either you buy his book or you don't. As many books as I am sure that he has, it would be impracticle for him to keep records or remember what was pressed and what was not. Now I do understand that someone might want to purchase a 9.0 or whatever and hope that they can have it pressed and maybe get a 9.2 or 4 out of the deal. So, knowing whether any specific book has been pressed already would be a big factor for someone like that. But if you like the book as it is, what does it matter if it was pressed? I really do not understand this "pressed" thing, I must admit. If CGC can not detect it and/or does not remark of it on the label, what does it matter (except for those looking to do it themselves as I mentioned above)? Can CGC detect it? Is it a crime to sell a book that has been pressed and not disclose it? Do you know if there are any books in your personal collection that diffinitely, beyond any doubt, have never been pressed, except the ones you purchased as the original owner? I just don't get this "pressed" argument. But I have never contemplated having one pressed or even restored. I take them as they are. Sort of like my 56' Coronet. Sure I could have it painted and "souped" up and install a CD player, but I won't. I like it original. But I do wash it, wax it and I have rubbed out some scratches. Is that comparable to "pressing" a comic book? Apples to oranges I know, but I was just trying to understand the argument about pressing. What exactly is the bad thing about having a book pressed? Does it make the book more likely to deteriorate sooner than normal?
  13. This has always been one of the great mysteries to me. Why would someone slab a book from this period in this kind of grade? You won`t even get your slabbing fees back when you sell it. Well, I can only guess at why people do what they do. It could be that one believes it is a great way to preserve the book so that there is less of a chance that something could happen to the book over the years. It also could be that the owner of the book perceives that slabbed books sell for a premium (they do normally), or it could be that they thought it was going to grade out higher when they did it. Finally, maybe they assumed that having it slabbed would alleviate any fears potential buyers might have about restoration. Although going the PGX route wouldn't do that 100% in my mind. These are PGX and the cost is fairly low to slab with that company. Maybe you did not realize they were PGX slabbed. You diffinitely have more of a point if they were CGC'd. I purchased them already slabbed from Jerry Weist, and I am sure that he did not lose money. So, his plan worked against your thoughts about this. I might be a dummy but he isn't. (thumbs u
  14. Saw these on Ebay and couldn't pass them up. They are both slabbed at 8.0. The colors just jump out. I always liked yellow covers but when I saw this purple one and it was accompanied by the yellow one, I couldn't resist. Both from the Carl Barks collection. #' 120 and 121, Uncle Scrooge.
  15. hmmm. I didn't know that book was that sought after. I have multiple copies in NM or better condition. Bought them off the stand "speculating" and they have never been read or opened. I ill post a scan or two soon as I get time. Interesting. I thought these were too common to go up that far in value. I really do need to buy a updated Overstreet, although there is an online price guide that I sometimes visit.
  16. Thanks to "newkingintown" for some great 9.8 SS CGC books. Packaged well and delivered quickly.
  17. Click Image to Enlarge Image Hosting What do ya think? 9.6? Is this going to cost me money
  18. I just went through about twenty long boxes and located only the following BSFUC issues. 1,3,4,5,6 and 13. It would surprise me if I don't have #2 here, but it is possible that this is all I have. I still have to go through many more boxes. I have been trying to fix my photobucket problem and am at a loss. Anyway. "Moloch" PM'd me and wants to purchase them without scans, so I am going to offer them to him first. If he declines, I will put them up on here, come hell or high water. While I was going through the boxes I decided to pull out modern and bronze tidbits to sell on here. Most will grade out at 9.4 or better. I will make a list with prices and hopefully will solve this pic problem if anyone is interested. They are all duplicates (I usually have three of each on hand) but I will only be selling one of each I think. There is about a short box full so it will take me awhile to put together the list. Lots of Atlas, Impact, DC and Marvel. Some you have never heard of and some you might have multiple copies of already. Just the usual drivel but all in excellent condition I think. Again, anyway. moloch, If you want these BSFUC's, they will cost you 20 bucks plus postage. If they do not get a 9.8 from CGC, I'll buy them back like I stated in the initial posting. I am sure that you will be pleased. If I find #2 or any others, I will include it or send it to you later at my expense, no charge. SPOON, I wish I could post some pics. No other sites ya'll use for your pics here? Have to leave for a Texas Hold'em game shortly.
  19. You're wrong nik. I am just trying to get all of the issues together (not sure how many I have yet and might have duplicates) and post scans so informed decisions can be made. The prices will be more than fair. You see. I don't care about money. I just want to find good homes for them.................Okay, I care a little, but not much. I have received a couple of PM's inquiring about them and interest seems to be because of the guarantee I made. Heck. I expect to lose money on this but it is fun making a guarantee like that. If I sell them for 5 bucks a piece and have to buy them back for 35 bucks a piece, the fun will be worth it. I don't blame ya'll for being cynical, but in this case, you don't have to be. I send books to members here for free quite often. Ask around. I will get my act together as soon as I can. Darn PhotoBucket. Is there another site comparable that I could join and use?
  20. I have some really nice (probably 9.8's or better) issues of "Gun Fury", issues 1 thru 5 by Aircel. Also, issues 1, 2, 4 and 4 again of "Body Count" by Aircel. (might have the 3 and 5 but haven't found them yet). Also several issues of "Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children" starting with issue #1 and running for ten or so (I don't have all of them in front of me now). By Piranha Press. All of the above are at least a 9.8 guaranteed (is that possible to guarantee). Yes. Or you get your money back, including slabbing fees and shipping charges everywhere. I am having a heck of a time with PhotoBucket lately but can and will scan and post if someone is truly interested. Too much trouble if there is no interest. Thanks.
  21. I am amazed at the numbers of collectors here who state that they have no idea how much their collection is worth. No clue? I find that hard to believe. Mine is somewhere between 250 and 500 thousand. I last went through them, graded them and checked the guide and gave each one a value, back in 1998, and it was just over 250 thousand. That is the last guide I have. Although there is a guide on the web that I sometimes consult. Strangely, it has different values for CGC'd books and raw books. I guess it takes into account that we just might grade our books in our favor, and a pro grading company would not. Still. Simply ask yourself how much you would take for the entire kit-n-kaboodle. Then ask yourself, realistically, what would someone pay you for them en mass. Singlely is for sure more money, but as a collection, what do you think someone would actually give you for them? I can tell you this. It most cases (not all because there are some here who have GREAT and VALUABLE collections) it ain't what you think (hope) it would be. I remember back when the internet started and everyone was investing in dot.com names. There was a web site like this where everyone was asked questions like "What do you think this name is worth" and they would put something up like "musicshop.com" or "bluefrog.com" and everyone would post that they thought it was a fabulous name to own and surely is worth thousands if not millions. Well, I would post that they were worth less than a hundred and probably only 20 bucks or so. Everyone chided me for that and ganged up on me for being a spoil-sport. Hope that doesn't happen here. Having said that. If you have boxes and boxes of bronze age, or modern age books and they ain't Hulk 181, then you have hundreds of dollars, maybe even a few thousand if sold seperately. No matter what the guide states. I have PLENTY of books that the guide states are worth ten bucks or so and I am sure that I could not post them here for a dollar and get any buyers.
  22. This one is just begging for a caption contest!
  23. Briefly. Go to PhotoBucket.com. Join. Upload your image to their site. After it is uploaded to photobucket.com, there will be four "links" underneath your image. Right click on the last one (img) and copy that link. Then come back here and paste that link on the blank screen below. Then hit "submit" and your image will apopear here, as long as you do not delete it from photobucket.com. If and when you delete it from photobucket, it will disappear from here also., On photobucket.com, you can join and upload all of the images you desire, for free. It's just a place to "park" images and photo's you want to save or share on the internet. Hope this helps. I am sure that there are other sites like photobucket.com available, but that is what many use.
  24. Another one that is too large for the scanner, but most of it shows here.
