So this is all about comparing sizes?

Seriously. It is the age old keeping up with the Joneses. Who wants a 9.6 BA 12, when all of their friends have a 9.8?

There is no difference between many 9.6's and 9.8's. Some for sure do have differences. But it is subjective and opinion, based on a persons mood, work pace, and even how they perceive a certain character or issue. A professional grader might like The Punisher and another grader might think he is lame.

I also do believe that CGC is not blind about WHO sent in what. They are a tight and close knit group. Surely they talk at work, and are in the know about "the guy" who spends thousands a year on slabbing, and the guy that spends 200 bucks a year.

If you are a bartender and your buddy comes in to drink. He gets better drinks than the stranger sitting next to him. If you are a cop and you pull over your high school math teacher. He or she gets a break that a stranger might not. A warning instead of a ticket.

Human nature, and no one can convince me otherwise. CGC is not a computer program. "It" is made up of and run by human beings. The most flawed thing in nature.

Personally, I will take a 9.6 pedigreed book over a non-ped 9.8, almost every time.

Does anyone have any idea what, if anything, the above post has to do with my graph that was quoted...?

It is a double entendre thing.

Not only does your graph, look like p-niss comparisons. But the whole 9.6 versus 9.8 thing, is about trying to out do or keep up with the joneses (as I said previously). My Cadi is better than your Olds, kind of thing.

Proudly comparing your 9.8 to someone elses 9.6. When in reality, there is little to no difference in many cases.

Hence why the adage "buy the book and not the label" is even talked about.

 I thought that was pretty clear in my original post. Maybe the "spoon" that this site replaced my original word with, threw you off?

Ok, so nothing whatsoever to do with my graph(s). That's what I thought, but maybe someone else could have deciphered something.

Someone might want to explain to conditionfreak. He missed the other half of the graph.

Oh, I didn't miss ANY of your graphs. I just find it amusing how you avoid "talking", and use kiddie pictures to make your points.

No matter how you may have been treated in the past on here. Just put your boots on and get back into the game. No one here will hurt you. They might hurt your feelings a little. But that which does not kill you, makes you stronger.

  4. I have to admit that I had never heard of Dave Stevens until he died. I then discovered Planet Comics #1 and ended up with a CGC 9.8 of that one.

Then I got several more of his books, just for the covers and CGC SS.

Then I acquired his large book, "Brush With Passion".

I love his work, but I rarely care what an artists name is. I just admire good stuff when I see it.

I am probably the longest collecting guy here, that has never cared about who did what on a comic book. I just like what I like. I can not look at a book and tell you who did it, or who wrote it. I can only tell you if I like it or I don't.

  5. What western book is the most sought after?

Which one is the most valuable?

    Which is the most elusive?

Are the answers all in the Kid Colt line?

Here is a recent acquisition, from the Southern State Collection. Only graded one.

  6. Have you seen the notes on that book? What brought that grade? It looks amazing in the scans.

There is a slight crunch at the top of the spine. It is almost invisible looking at the book from the front or the back. You have to turn it at the right angle to see the flaw, because of the slab.

So, basically the slab hides the one flaw. It was suggested to me that a small amount of glue on that spot, and pushing the crunch back to flat, would fix it. But I am scared of it becoming a PLOD, so I will just live with a beautiful presentation book. There is no paper missing. Just a blunted corner. No tear even.

I have no idea if a press would help, as I have never had a book pressed before.

I bought this from foolkiller and he called it "the nicest 9.2 you will ever see".

    He was right,

  7. If I sell you a book and two years later, you come after me for a refund.... Well, you are just out of luck. Two years is far too long. Submit the book almost immediately and then I will refund. But not two years later.

Sorry. I don't care what the story or reasons are. Two years is just too long. Part of your obligation in purchasing a book, is to check it out after you get it. If you do not know how to check it out for yourself, pay someone (CGC perhaps) to check it for you.

But not years later. CGC takes a long time, but not THAT long.

Haivng said all of that. This Trey guy is not somone I would ever knowingly do business with. Either selling or buying. Appears to be a "player" with knowledge of how the games work and how to contort them, and use them, to his advantage.

    Stay away Trey!

I voted "yes". My first time ever voting for this type of thing.

  8. Do you have some kind of certificate with the raws, verifying their pedigree membership? Does CGC accept certificates always? Or just if the book passes the "smell" test?

I ask because I have some certificates that do not have the issue on them Just the certificate stating that "this book is part of , blah, blah, blah". Makes me think that a certificate could be switched to a different book.

  9. Gasoline Alley #1 CGC 4.5 VG+ Cr/Off wh Star Pub 9-10/50 Gerber 7-------spot on I think

    Gasoline Alley #2 CGC 4.5 VG+ cr/off wh Star Pub 12/50 Gerber 8-------correct I think

I didn't know these were that rare. I at least have a #2! I was just looking these up and found this too:

    http://comics.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleNo=808&lotIdNo=106007

I don't think this comic was ever made either. I know there's a few of these out there that were never made.

Yea, the #3 was a cover only thing. Just like Motion Picture Funnies Weekly ( MPFW) comics, #'s 2, 3 and 4, are only known as "covers only". Interiors were never published.

MPFW #1, may be the first appearance ever of the Sub-Mariner. It was a full fledged complete comic book, given away at theaters.

  10. Just left a gas station that also sells hoagies, pizzas, etc. One girl and one guy were in the restaurant part of the business, preparing food.

The young man says to the young girl, "Have you ever watched Walking dead?"

She answers, "Yea, it is stoopid".

He responds, "It ain't stoopid. No way is it stoopid. It is awesome".

She says, "Seroiusly? You like it?"

He responds, "it is my favorite show of all time. I don't just like it, I love it."

Her: "Well, that says a lot about you."

I got my Diet Dr. Pepper and then I left.

    I thought it was funny.

Hey,. Just had a thought. I wonder how well a submarine sandwich called "Walking Dead Sub" would go over? Eh, probably not so well. :)
