  1. This thread is long, and I don't know if this book has been mentioned or pictured here before. It is a very large hard back book (too large for my scanner). Filled with the Dave Stevens artwork we are all familiar with. But it is also filled with some few have seen. Expecially nudes (and I do mean "nude" completely). Stevens did nudes as well as Vargas did semi-nudes.

Awesome book, that I recommend. Pics of Stevens with Jack Kirby and pics of letters from Jack to Dave. All kinds of large pics. His "originals" for many of the comic covers. Black and white, and then in color. His whole life story.

A great book for a Dave Stevens fan.

  2. It is called "Shaken Comic Syndrom", if I understand your scenario correctly. It can happen through moving, dropping or mailing slabbed comic books.

CGC does not take any responsibility and most just keep the book in their collection as is.

Some will sell it and since it is slabbed, state that they do not accept returns due to it being graded and slabbed by a third party. Not a moral thing to do, IF THEY KNOW about the SCS damage. But most often, everyone just goes by the label and may not know.

That is one reason I think paying a premium for a 10.0 modern slabbed book is rather foolish. I bet the next time it is graded (but i seriously doubt anyone would ever do that, since it has a 10.0 above it), it wil not be a 10.0, 95 percent of the time. IMO.

  3. 100% agree besides the Joker, Ras is best Bat villain. :applause:

and talia al ghul has to be the hottest female in the batman universe. :luhv:

Speaking of Talia, how are prices on Tec #411 trending now? I still kick myself for not going through with a deal to buy the 9.6 copy on Clink for $820 a year or two ago..........

A very under rated book IMO. That book is a must have.

just listed my CGC SS 9.0 on eBay

Just a small heads up. I checked out your Ebay stuff and noticed that your Iron Fist #15 does not have the #15 in the title. Just Iron Fist.

I am going to bid on three of your books on Ebay, after the Billy Wright auction is all done with. If I win my bids there, I won't be able to bid on yours unfortunatly. But I don't expect to win any Billys. :(

  4. This book is hot. With some thanks to this forum. It has been talked up a lot, in many various threads. Plus, it just looks awesome. Many just want one of the best they can afford. Most of us can not afford a 9.4 and above, so we get a good looking 8.5 or 9.0.

The book is just hot right now. A year from now? Who knows. Could be cooler or even hotter. My guess is hotter.

I suggest that if you have a high grade one, sell it now. There are buyers waiting. But in six months you will be wanting one for yourself again. If you have more than one right now, then you are in the cat bird seat. Make a nice profit and still have one in your collection.

It could cool off. But I'm thinking not.

  5. I apologize to Walls, and any others. I stated that I paid $800 for my 9.0 pedigreed 227. Thinking about it later, I realized it was part of a package deal and I only paid $450.00 for it. If memory serves me correctly this time. The $800 was a different book (GL 76 I think).

    Sorry about that.

At the time, I thought it was overpriced, and it may well be still. But I am happy with it. That's all that matters. Like someone else stated, "the heart wants what the heart wants".

Back to your regularly scheduled program. (something about fisting, if I remember correctly)

  6. Speaking of Tec 400. Two weeks ago, I was at The Bookery in Fairborn, Ohio. They claim to be the largest comic book store in the country. They might be. I don't know.

They do not have much in high grade, and little in the way of slabbed books. But they have a label on every book, with their grade and the price usually below guide price. Nice store.

I bought over a hundred dollars worth of stuff and they give an automatic 10% discount when over 100.

One of the things I could not resist, was this Tec 400. It had a sticker stating it was a 5.0, and a price of $35.00. So, with the discount, I guess I paid about $31.50 for this book.

I bought it, even thugh I rarely buy stuff so low in grade.

If you ever get the chance to visit that store (near Dayton, Ohio), I recommend you do. I believe that a member here (Pulpguide?) is the person that sold me the books that day. They have some great deals. Movie posters, games, statues, and comic galore,

    I think this book is a 7.0.
