  1. When did Frank Miller first draw Wolverine in a comic book? I am including a link which may (or may not) provide an accurate clue. https://scoop.previewsworld.com/Home/4/1/73/1012?articleID=179920
  2. No graders notes on 9.2-9.6? I've seen graders notes on 9.4 for a recent (within the last year) grading from CGC.
  3. Having watched the video, I can see where the word "fake" implies gocollect intentionally used incorrect sales figures. I've been using gocollect for a long time and I come across auction sales that never make it into their registry. The author of the video provides clear examples of gocollect using incorrect sales figures. However, there is no example of gocollect intentionally doing this. But, executing a copyright infringement, pretty weak. It's OK to make mistakes, It's what you do to remedy the mistake that people will remember. Never mind, it's still available:
  4. I've seen this where there is an anomoly and all it takes is to look at who bids on their item. In some cases, I've seen bid activity over 90% and it's for comics in the $1-$5 range. Shill.
  5. I am looking for a full list of all (Marvel, DC, etc) hero and antagonist appearances. Ideally, the list has to be something that can be downloaded into Excel. Most of the comprehensive lists I've found are incomplete or only capture up to circa 2018. Please don't reply if you even think of suggesting Wiki it is full of far too many errors. I've thought of reaching out to KeyCollector and/or GoCollect, but they have omissions as well. And, not sure if they'd provide the data in Excel format. I'm hoping there's something out there I have missed. Many Thanks
  6. FYI - I continued tracking atticcomicz inventory to see what the remaining key issues would sell for. However, their entire inventory disappeared.
  7. I would rather use the word "correction" as opposed to "drop". The spike in comic prices are a combination of hype (not a negative term), COVID-19, investor involvement, and market manipulation. And just like the market, if investors begin to pull out, there will be a correction. I wish we could see when an investment group/company purchased a comic. I'd add an asterisk next to each one of those sales. As for Markey manipulation, reference WATA/Heritage Auction (video below).
  8. Received a response from PSA: I have subbed about 20-30 of these over the years and I know of what you speak. Almost all of these cards that are not Pristine MINT, Never Folded (Never Having Been Folded) have come back as a VG 3 to VG-EX 4 to 4.5 at most. I think I actually got a EX-MT 6 on one, once? Apparently once they are Folded, even just once, they are mostly beyond even an EX 5.
  9. I'll take that one. No, not that one, the one next to it. No, the other one. Behind that one. On the left. One row below. Oh, it's not a newsstand. Never mind.
  10. Never received a response. Was not surprised. The search continues.
  11. Greetings Forum Members. I need help determining if an eBay seller is genuine. I hope I am wrong and prepared to make amends via an apology to the individual who owns/runs the account. The seller is atticcomicz in the UK. They are currently selling some hot comics. Here are some things that are raising a red flag: (1) All comics are rated VF+ of VF (2) Repeated use of the terms "mark on rear", "no problems", "no real problems", and "main problem stress marks" under description details. (3) Photos of the comics are a mixed bag of cover only, cropped so you cannot see all of the edges, or front and back cover for relatively modern comics. (4) Out of over 100 sold transactions, they did not sell a single comic book for over $2.50, most sales were under $1.00. Current comics listed for sale range in price from $18 to $377. (5) Some of the comics they have listed are screen grabs. Not going to point out which ones in case they are trying to scam. Any comic book fan will pick one of them out very quickly. (6) "10 Day despatch time due to work committments"
  12. Not from the inside back cover, as neither the pattern nor color red is present on the back cover.
  13. I recently looked at one of my copies of Firestorm #100 (AUG 1990). When I saw it, I was bummed because I wondered, "how did I miss this water stain?" The red and black stain does not appear on the back side of the page, or come from the inside cover. Nothing lines up or anything with that pattern on either page. I looked at another copy and found it had the same stain. Any idea what this is? Thank you
  14. I have a questions on Flash #214. (1) GoCollect has the comic listed as: Origin of Metal Men (2) Key Collect Comics has it listed as: Reprint of Flash #155 and Origin of Metal Men DC Fandom notes this comic as Flash #214 (reprint), National Comics #67 (reprint), The Face Behind the Mask, Adventure Comics #179 (reprint), Showcase #37 (reprint), Flash #145 (reprint), and The Tale of Three Tokens. When I first saw the "Origin" verbiage, I thought maybe Flash 214 included a side story with the origin of Metal Men, but I believe that is covered Showcase #37 (1st appearance of MM). If anything, they should highlight how "The Tale of the Three Tokens" is an unpublished Golden-Age story with Jay Garrick, originally intended for Flash Comics. Perplexed
  15. I hope you the best in your search.
  16. Well, if they're storing it at the Iron Mountain storage facility at Boyers, Pennsylvania, it will outlast humanity. The facility features climate controlled storage areas protected by armed guards. You will not get anywhere near the entrance. And if by some miracle you get inside, you better have a vehicle because it's big and the vehicle better have a battering ram or something to open the insanely thick doors for each storage facility. And make sure it's armored, because you'll need something when the rounds start flying. Imagine Hangar 51 (Indiana Jones), except multiple rooms encased in limestone. It began storing records in 1954 and was purchased by Iron Mountain in 1998. It is here that Bill Gates stores his Corbis photographic collection in a refrigerated cave 220 feet (67 m) underground, as well as where Universal Music Group stores its United States masters. Nearby, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management leases another cavern to store, and process government employee retirement papers. In short, this place never-ever-ever looses power.
  17. I recently acquired a several of these at a garage sale. Most with the tabs still attached (never folded). If the card was folded, thus breaking the attached tab, how much does that effect the grading? Assuming all other factors remain the same. Just looking for an approximation. Thanks
  18. I just received my copy of Metal Men #39. Described by the seller as FN 5.5-6.0. Here's a description: (1) lots of gloss on the front and back cover, bright colors (2) two color breaking creases on front left cover 2 1/2" (3) piece missing from lower right front cover 1/8" (4) spine split at top left cover 1/2" (5) spine split above bottom staple 3/8" (6) edge missing from front right cover 3/4" (7) heavy tanning on back cover edges and inside of front cover (8) tear through entire comic including front and back cover 3/8" (9) tear on back page and several pages 1/8". A little back ground. When I received the comic, I removed it to count the pages and inspect the comic. As I removed the comic, a small piece of the front cover (lower right edge) fell off. The next thing I noticed was every page had a rip. When I got to the back of the comic, I found a second rip. I was very careful not to open the comic all of the way, but when I returned to the front page, I saw both staples detached from the cover. This is now item (9) detached cover. When I first inspected the comic, I did not see if the cover was attached or detached. It's possible this happened while I was inspecting the comic. So I am asking for a Spare A Grade with and without the cover detached. Many thanks.
  19. Visited the local comic book dealer who sales from his garage 2-3 times a year. A sample of what I brought home. All of the comics/magazines on the top row are exceptionally clean; NM. And I almost didn't notice the Micronauts were the Whitman Variant. Today was a good day
  20. I embrace 1/8" difference. The problem is that I can't find the bag and backing board in the size which arrived with the magazine (8 1/4 width). The only thing I find is over 8 7/8, thus a little over 1/2 wider. So my question is: Can someone please direct me a bag/board combo that's 8 3/4 wide?
  21. I'm trying to find magazine bags and backing boards for Marvel magazines. I found one's measuring 8 7/8 X 11 1/8, but those are too wide. The magazines I have measures 8 1/4 X 10 7/8. I know they make them because some of the Marvel magazines I ordered came with a bag (8 3/4 X 11) and backing board (8 1/2 X 11). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  22. Thanks to Patrick, got my hands on a Brave and the Bold #25. Excellent packaging and fast delivery. Thank you.
  23. There is conflicting reports of when Psylocke appears as Lady Mandarin; Uncanny X-Men #256 or #257. I believe the confusion may come from Psylocke appearing as Lady Mandarin in uniform (costume) in X-Men #257. In addition, she is not referred to as Lady Mandarin until #257 (In the service of the Hand and the Mandarin, the brainwashed Psylocke establishes herself as Lady Mandarin).
  24. Below is my attempt to unravel the Braddock Family. This is what I've come up with. NOTE: Key Collector does not have a listing for Brian Braddock (Captain Britain). I left out several details such as costume and/or ability changes to keep it simple. And...all alias names for Captain Britain because that deserves a thread all to its own. Also, I could not identify when Gloriana first appeared. Captain Britain Weekly #1 (October 1976) 1st appearance Captain Britain (Brian Braddock) Origin of Captain Britain (???) Captain Britain #8 (December 1976) 1st appearance of Elizabeth “Betsy” Braddock (later becomes Psylocke) 1st mention of Jamie Braddock Jr. (later becomes Monarch) Captain Britain #9 (December 1976) 2nd appearance of Betsy Braddock 1st appearance of Jamie Braddock Jr., later becomes Monarch Mighty World of Marvel #7 (December 1983) 1st appearance of Meggan Braddock (later becomes Gloriana) Captain Britain #8 (Volume 2) (August 1985) Origin of Meggan Braddock Captain Britain #12 (December 1985) Betsy Braddock becomes Captain Britain New Mutants Annual #2 (October 1986) 1st appearance of both Betsy Braddock and Meggan Braddock in U.S. comics Origin of Betsy Braddock Betsy Braddock renamed Psylocke (by Mojo) Uncanny X-Men #213 (January 1987) Betsy Braddock joins the X-Men and adopts the name Psylocke Uncanny X-Men #257 (January 1990) 1st appearance of Psylocke as Lady Mandarin Captain Britain and MI13 Annual #1 (June 2009) 1st appearance of Meggan Braddock as Gloriana (???)
