  1. stop it, gator. You mean my books have a taint? Gator Goo, apparently.
  2. (thumbs u is an allentown good? I want to be Richard Evans when I grow up. Nice book MrBedrock sir. (thumbs u
  3. Blasphemy! # 15 is one of the greatest covers of the run also! West I'm all blasphemed out.... West, you and Mark coming to the Mega-Con dinner on Saturday night? Lots of GA heavyweights to be there. Still have a couple of open spots in the reservation. Vitos has some of the best steak in town, and I know Mark likes his filet.
  4. To me the great Schomburg covers stop at #13 Blasphemy! # 14 is one of the greatest covers of the run!
  5. C'Mon Bill...you can't follow up a couple of Gay Comics with this old rag.....its just not fair. Seriously, I always loved that cover.
  6. thanks for the props on the r.r. what do you think of the book i got today? Light-weight. Seriously, that's just plain sick. (worship) I want one now.
  7. Thanks, I'm especially happy with the mystic. PQ might not be great, but the cover colors are awesome! I'd say your chances are even money you'll get a Cream to Off-White on a page quality review.
  8. I sure think you made the right decision!!!!!!! Great books! Is it any wonder that people are trading in their SA for Prime GA? Can't think of too many better places to stash some cash.
  9. For the price, it was a no-brainer. (thumbs u
  10. Nice book! It belongs in the 2nd Highest Graded thread....
  11. I have a few GA WW's....but here is my favorite of the bunch. Posted first in the 2nd highest graded thread, it also deserves a turn here. Hardcore WW fans will recognize the book as her final appearance in Sensation.
  12. That's a great cover! Thanks everyone for sharing....
  13. From my perspective there is no doubt that that is definitely not Schomburg. Hey Rich, Actually 6-9 are believed to be Schomburg. The man had a great deal of artistic range, but he was known to reuse certain poses which became markers of his work. Compare...
  14. Very informative, thanks. what do you want, a comprehensive list? Just look at any other Schomburg cover. "Any" other? Really? Oddly enough, my Freckles and Dear Beatrice Fairfax covers are missing the odd Axis villain getting pummeled. One of the reasons I suggested the cover was because a non-comic acquaintance of mine asked to see my collection a month or so ago. Even after looking at 40+ books, many of them Schomburg war covers, they let out a sincere "wow" when they saw this book. Not sure if it was the composition, the bright vivid colors, the action sequence, or the combination of all the various elements, but it was the only book that really invoked a verbal response from a non-comic geek. Considering the thread is geared toward public perception, I thought it would be an appropriate nominee based on at least one layman's experience. Sure, to you or I, its a Schomburg "knock-out" cover not unlike dozens of others. But to someone who hasn't seen a few hundred Schommy covers, I think it stands as a pretty cool example of the his art and the era.
  15. Let me offer another suggestion...how about a cover without a recognizable super-hero? Instead, it features one of the generic spandex-clad protagonists of the GA that have long since died off, that no one but a hard-core comic geek would even recognize. Yet, the action of the cover is both striking, and instantly identifiable to even the most uninformed member of the general public. With less emphasis on the character, and more on the actual cover....I would suggest...
  16. My one and only nominee: Simple, succinct, and instantaneously recocognizable.
  17. Can I keep the $300,000 and instead use it to buy 300 $1,000 HG GA books of my choosing?
  18. Well, not quite "easy" my friend. In today's market, either of the two 9.0s (one of which is a "potentialized" 7.5, if memory serves) would have a hard time breaking $30k. I'm with you, as a high grade Timely nut, I'd happily take the MMC # 2 over the AA # 16. But I have no problems admitting that the AA # 16 is by far the more significant book, with the higher investment ceiling (especially if the Mile High 9.4 ever sells for over $1 mil, as rumored).
  19. I also received a 10% off coupon from ebay this morning good for today, Dec 1 only. If you get one, and have nothing else better to spend it on, use it concert with my books. Another 10% off would make the Exciting # 65 pretty dang cheap (under $400). (thumbs u
