  1. Sorry...this book has been posted already, but I just got my scanner back up and running (Vista bites!), so I decided to post some newer, sharper pictures of my beauty.
  2. Please tell me you have to sell some of your gorgeous Subbys to finance this purchase. Seriously, awesome book Rich. Bring it by at Mega-Con next Feb so I can drool over it. I'll even through in the $14 reholdering fee.
  3. Good enough. Its an exceptionally nice book for a 8.5 with ultra bright cover colors and no discoloration of any sort.
  4. That belongs on a T-shirt. You know, that question has been stuck in my mind since last night when I first read it, and honestly, I can't fathom an answer....
  5. Actually I thought I picked this up cheap. It bascially went at 9.0 sales from 2002 and 2004 and in general prices are probably pretty flat for some time now. I don't think there is too much focus on Sub-Mariner books yet but its bound to come once a fresh crop of high grade copies hit the market. Also I thought Jacquet connection adds alittle more to its value, I know it makes this book special for me. I expected you to be all over this book for sure (unless you already have a copy?). BTW I miss my issue #35 I sold you. I thought I'd wait for one of the 9.0 copies to surface. I'm also trying to stay away from books with CRM/OW pages for right now, though that might change moving forward. So far, I've only added two books to my Subby run this year, so being picky has its downside (namely, its taking forever to find suitable copies). I miss my # 35 too. Its currently in my safe deposit box and I just don't get to look at it much anymore.
  6. Nice book Peter. It ended pretty strong for a 8.5, which surprised me a bit. I thought the top for that book would be $1,100 or so. Let's hope Subbys aren't suddenly becoming "hot" or I'll never get close to putting together an even partial run.
  7. You know, I must have seen a thousand Bettie Page pin-ups or Olivia prints...and though there is a certain repetitive quality to them, oddly enough I never get tired of those either. Same basic principle with Schomburg covers. Great art is great art. Schomburg rocks. Period.
  8. Looks like there will be plenty of new war books for the Memorial Week Post-A-Thon!
  9. it really says something when one realizes that the most disgusting thing in the picture is the steeler's super bowl faux championship t-shirt. The Seahawks nation thanks you for not forgetting that horrible atrocity.
  10. Love those early Torch covers! dude, I thought you were a subby guy? No worries here if Peter has jumped ship. I don't need any more competition for high grade Subby books.
  11. Good God, that and the USA 7 just went to the top of my want list. Richie, I hope when it comes time to part with those Subbys, you give the good folks on the Boards first shot.
  12. If i was going to unload a big wad of cash it certainly would be for this book. Are you saying a might have a glimmer of hope. You do realize your quickly eroding your own negotiating position, don't you?
  13. I absolutely love that book, use to drool over it on a daily basis with Rob had it on his website and was sad to see it go. Of course if you ever want to down grade to a nice 5.5 copy I'd be more than happy to work a deal out. Fabulous books. Richard was kind enough to talk with me about this book at Mega-Con. Let's just say it would take your 5.5 AND a REALLY big wad of cash to get him to part with it.
  14. I know I own several GA books that could benefit from a Press. But they are sitting in old label holders, and quite frankly, are just fine the way they are.
  15. Can you ever own enough high grade Subbys? I'll probably sell the second copy. Don't really need two. And I'll part with it for a whole lot less than the only other 9.0 copy (on Metro's site with a $2,250 price tag).
  16. One to keep, one to use as trade bait for Pictureframes.
  17. Repost from Comics General: I don't normally post new acquisitions, preferring to keep my purchases private, but now that I own two old-label copies of Sub-Mariner Comics # 26 in 9.0...well, I just thought it would be a cool pic to share.

  19. There was some furious bidding on that book. Ended well above what I thought it would.
  20. Stunning books stagedoor! This is one of those "left nut" type books.....as in, I'd happily give my left nut for it.
  21. Here's a scan of the photocopy from way back. I don't own this book but I've pretty good idea who does. I wonder what this book would command if it hit the open market? $5k? $10k? More? So who owns it I know i dont... Richard Evans. Sweet. I'll stop by Richie's booth at Mega-Con and bug him about it.
