  1. If its the guy I'm thinking of, I bought a Spidey # 2 from him back in 1986. It was beat to hell, but I think he asked only $30 for it.
  2. I agree. Here is one of my favorite covers from the era, and one of the last really cool Kirby covers in the early FF run. Note the perspective, Sue Storm in particular seems to reasonate with a 3-D quality against the background and foreground elements. Kirby magic at its greatest. Um..and I'm pretty sure its from the Mannarino...um...(cough).."Pedigree"
  3. Major Kudos to Nochips (Stuart) for pulling off a trade involving some highly sought after reprint books. I've been looking for these babies for a while, and Stuart came through in awesome fashion. This is the second time I've gotten early 70s Marvels from him in incredibly superior shape...He is the Man! I didn't even mind giving away a few bucks in trade value. Thanks Stu.
  4. Kudos to ft88 (Ed) for some great cheap, Transformers books. Affordable and well packed to boot!
  5. Big Kudos to the following Forum folks who have bought from me recently: scrape1 GoodyRickles Aces shrunkenhead and a HUGE Kudos to Flaming Telepath (ole U.K. Nick) for putting together one big whopper of a deal. Thanks to everyone!
  6. And a big hearty Kudos to you Bob for making it a perfect transaction for me as well. Also some shout outs to Foolkiller, scrape1, and deathlok for quick recent payments.
  7. Another well deserved Kudos to Ray Hunt (wrcomics)...a class guy and class buyer. Thanks!
  8. Big Props to Nochips (Stuart) for selling me some stunning Bronze Age Sgt. Furys....great books and prompt, secure shipping.
  9. Thanks Dan, and Kudos to you for prompt payment. Also, some additional kudos for the following Forum buyers who picked up something from me recently: wrcomics Ray is as good as it gets, great buyer and don't forget to check out his eBay auctions! Whether you're looking for high grade gems or just a mid grader to fill in a run...he probably has it. Top-notch Forumite! heinlein99 Todd sent promt payment on a nice ASM 97...hope it gets there before the new year! DKB David was also quick to pay on a sharp ASM 68 and some misc FFs. And a big thanks to BlazingBob for selling me some nice high grade Marvels. Packing was secure and fast as usual.
  10. Back in 1993, I bought the only true NM unrestored copy of Tales to Astonish # 36 that I have ever seen in 15 years of high grade Silver Age collecting....and I sold it six months later when a new collection came along and I needed the dough to fund my purchase. It was gorgeous, and had a small name stamp ("Murray Whitman") on the first page. I kept thinking I could always replace it, but really have never seen anything comparable....sigh.... Maybe one day I'll find it again.
  11. Props to JiveTurkeyMoFo on a great ASM 68 and assorted late 100s FF books. Thanks David..and Kudos to you on such quick payment. Sorry it took so long to arrive...
  12. Kudos to JTMF for a really nice deal on a bunch of ASMs and Xbooks! And Kudos right back 'atcha for quick payment, thanks Ray!
  13. Thanks for the great books JiveTurkeyMoFo! Sweet! Thanks Brian for the prompt payment and patience. Mega Kudos to the following folks that I've swung deals with recently: Old Guy Clobberintime SFilosa
  14. Damn that's nice! Too bad I could never convince myself to spend that kind of dough on a piece of original art.
  15. I don't remember if you've posted the info before, but how did you acquire it....and give us a ball park figure for what it cost you (if you don't mind). A keeper! I BINed it off of eBay last year for a mere $400..pretty immediate decision too as soon as I saw it. The really cool thing was that the seller is an old comic acquaintance of mine, and former Overstreet contributor that I hadn't had contact with in nearly a decade. In good form, he remembered me immediately, including the first book he ever sold me (one I REALLY wish I had back). I think he at least got some satisfaction in knowing his ST 80 was heading to a good home.
  16. Holy CRAPOLA! Either you've got some real problems, or your priorities are WAAAAYYY out of whack... James, I am a high grade junkie who pays hundreds and occasionally thousands of dollars for freakin' comic books.... of course my priorities are WAY out of whack!
  17. This one and the one posted earlier with the army of Kirby monster dropping out of the sky are among my favorites ever! Great cover! Someone I think posed a HG slabbed copy of this once, and it was awesome. I think you are referring to my copy, which I humbly resubmit for your approval. I would sooner part with my right nut then sell this baby.
  18. Thanxs for some beautiful looking books You are most welcome sir!
  19. Kudos to the following good folks who ordered recently from my high grade list. - Joe Collector - Solar - Werner Von Doom - Captains of Industry - Nikos61 - scrape1 Hope everyone is happy with their books! Thanks to all for prompt payment.
  20. Lots of deals with the "short mofo". Hey, I own the copyright to the use of any and all "Mofos" on this board. Time to send me one of those sweet, sweet DCs as compensation.
  21. although the 7 copies of Youngblood #1 I could have done without ) What!?! You only got seven!?!
  22. Thanks! And Double Kudos to Kahml, Terry1, Deathlok, & ArAich for alleviating me of some of my comic bulk. You guys are like the Weight Watchers of comic collecting.
  23. The book is still easily found in high grade in spite of the copies taken out of circulation. It was a MH2 book so there could be thousands of nice copies out there. I would venture this to be very true...FF 48 is the most populous Marvel Silver Key (pre-1968..the Iron Man # 1/Cap # 100 era) in VF/NM or better. I wouldn't doubt that there are 5-10 high grade raw copies for every one that has shown up on the CGC census. (C'mon....34 9.6s?!?....over 180 submitted in Universal 9.0 or better). I think over the next ten years, this book is due for a major price adjustment downwards; the outrageous census figures and steadily decreasing popularity of the Surfer character are sure to doom it.
  24. Next you're going to say the same for #50, but there has not been a 9.4+ #50 on the open market that I've seen. The only one that comes to mind is the a Pac Coast copy I saw on Bob's website a little over a year ago. Back then, the $1,600 price tag shocked me, but it was gone within a heartbeat.
