  1. You're preaching to the converted The dialogue is the main thing for me and these always crack me up and don't feature any of the central characters! http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=731445 http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=622403 http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=622408 "We've run out of gerbil lubricant."
  2. The writing in ST 21 and MM was on par with Watchmen. KJ not so much. Guess we'll have to disagree on that one! +1
  3. Yes, I think I can see it for a few of the Sandman artists, but not for most.
  4. Getting into Sandman territory (depending on the artist)
  5. Hiya, Mike: Great insight on the Romita Sr Spidey art. I know a lot of folks on the boards would not be as open or forthcoming as you so I just wanted to let you know I appreciate your post. If I may ask another question - how many Romita Sr ASM issues are large art? I know Ditko illustrated 38 issues on large art (excluding annuals), but what about Romita Sr? Kind Regards, -Yoram
  6. What's considered his first run? ASM 208 - 250, although there are a few fill-in issues by other artists (Weiss = 209; Hall = 219, 222, and 237; McLeod = 220 (originally intended for an issue of MTU; Kupperberg = 221) Wonderful stories by Roger Stern Oops, I forgot ASM 228, penciled by Rick Leonardi.

  8. Hey Rob! Thanks for the thoughts. I tried to base the info on both public sales and whatever private sales I knew of or had heard of. Obviously this list is not gospel but rather just my own observations on these sales. And yes, any second-hand value-info has to be taken with a grain of salt just as this list should be. This is why I have asked for any feedback on additions or modifications especially from those collectors who are much closer to certain segments of the market than I am. Therefore, if you have more concrete info on certain artist/run values, please share them and we can update the list accordingly. Thanks! One of the challenges is that people who are passionate about certain combinations of artists/runs may also overestimate the value of that segment. And this may not be for selfish reasons, just may be what they've been seeing. But they also see the cream of the crop mainly and because of that what is A to them may be A+ to the rest of us, or visa versa. You can see how has the potential to artificially inflate the values. In other words, these are the experts for that market, but with it comes a passion and an overestimation at times based on what that person, who likely has been overpaying for years for that segment, sees. I'm as guilty as anyone, as I'm a big Miracleman fan and I certainly recommended we put them above the ST run. That's what I've seen, although the ST stuff is starting to catch up now. So you should take my word because I've probably seen more than anyone else, but also should doubt me because maybe I'm seeing a skewed viewpoint. Similarly, Yoram is a JRJR ASM fan, Felix loves V pages and 80s stuff like me, Chris Caira is a huge Dredd fan, and so on and so on. This list is great, but we will need other less impassioned viewpoints to continue to tweak the list up or down. But, of course, that's why we should try to find consensus. I wonder if a more objective way to tweak the list, once it's near complete (which I think it almost is, actually), is possible. We can also add Ross Andru ASM pages to the $3-5K category -Yoram (not a fan of Ross Andru)
  9. Really? Yes, covers are in the 20K+ range, and significantly higher for the A+ examples, but A level panel pages? Yes, Hari, really. Kind Regards, -Yoram
  10. I think we can also add the Romance books to the omission. Lots and lots of Romance books in the 1950s.
  11. I'm glad someone found this thread again and I found a post I submitted back in '09 which still holds true for me today.
  12. It does. I've read the entire series again recently and it still reads extremely well. I will admit its not for everyone, so if you like your books full of long underwear types, this may not be the series for you.
  13. Are folks still after the Hansi comic and some of the other Spire Christian comics (Hello, I'm Johnny Cash, etc)? I remember some spike in prices a few years back, but I've stepped out of the Bronze age comics realm. Any help would be appreciated.
  14. Whoa, that's not just any ol' Peter Hsu sketch on Heritage...its the prelim cover art to Quadrant #1.
  15. This great series deserves omnibus/masterworks treatment, i mean which marvel series from the 70s-80s don't!! On the late Mr Gene Day, its a pity indeed because his art was getting better and better, and when he was off the book, it got cancelled months after, that, one likely reason must be the risen art standards.set by him was non-sustainable with his passing ( some food for thought-he certainly drew a lot of ornate oriental hindu statues and demoniac idols). On the uniqueness of SC, well, as all True Marvelites, we do know that MOKF would be the equivalence of what Conan and Dracula would be to their own respective genres, the greatest (barbarian/warrior; vampire and kung fu hero). Afterall, which character in Marvel can singlehandedly take on supervillains barehanded, without superpowers or special weapons/armory. Now, if ever someone is to make a movie of MOKF, they should use that classic "KF Figghting" theme by Carl Douglas, no, read the new limited series (first few issues are full of the original MOKF excitement and then some), and think of all the cool fighting moves and shades from the last Matrix movie, and you will know what i mean. I'd say the cancellation had more to do with the demise of the Kung Fu fad, and less with Gene Day's departure.
  16. I really think SME 15 should be compared with something on par, say, Marvel Premiere #15, the 1st appearance of Iron Fist. I think both are plentiful with mediocre demand and they're priced appropriatly. There was a thread previously for the relative inexpensive 1st appearance of Warlord, and my belief is that while Grell's story and art is fantastic, the Warlord character was simply too isolated from the rest of the DC universe. Shang-Chi and Iron Fist were more integrated into the Marvel Universe than Warlord to the DC Universe, and I think that speaks to the broader appeal and demand for the Marvel characters. Then again, this is just my
  17. How about people that post art for sale on their CAF and ask you to "make an offer"? I find this to be more annoying because you don't know for certain if they're fishing or not. At least with the Donnelly's, they provide a price when you ask.
  18. Just a quick question for the more experienced folks on this list - - - what is the current market price for a GI Combat #68? Thanks in advance!
