  1. Very nice group. If you don't mind, what's the grade on the COC 23? Is that a File Copy? Looks very nice.
  2. Sorry - must have missed that. That one that just closed was super glossy.
  3. You guys see this Menace 5 on ebay? I think there's still 2 more currently going...funny how 3 show up at once. Anyhow, $1000 for this one. Guesses as to how it will grade out? Looks like 5ish to me? Maybe a bit higher? http://www.ebay.com/itm/291666945049?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  4. I think that's my old copy I sold to Jay. Upon realizing my mistake years later I paid double? triple? I don't know...but found a similar copy.
  5. They are absolutely off on the high side and low side. No question. All to my point that they need to be adjusted. I think it's a pretty dirty trick to put yourself out as a "guide" and then have some books going for 10 cents on the dollar...or 10 dollars on the cent. Either way - I don't get it. As far as most people knowing that it's not gospel, that may be most comic book collectors but it absolutely isn't most people (like those who just got handed their grandpa's collection.) This may look like a rant against Overstreet but it's not. I love the guide and read it for a number of reasons. I just can't get past, and haven't heard a legitimate reason yet, why they refuse to adjust their "guide" prices on books that they are so far off on.
  6. I love Overstreet as a guide and as a reference for all of the updates written by dealers/collectors. There is so much great information in those books. However, I really don't get why there are some books SO far off in value. If a book goes up by 10x in a year...then reflect that in your price guide. If it drops just as rapidly the next year...then reflect that too. Sometimes it seems they're trying to predict the market vs. just reporting the news. Now if Overstreet isn't worried about market value, rather something else (not sure what that would be), then so be it. I'm halfway thinking a "farthest apart OPG vs. market" thread would be a lot of fun. There are just so many books that are ridiculous in the guide vs. even consistent market that when someone uses OPG as a reference when trying to sell me something I scoff. Even knowing that most of the guide values are pretty decent indications of market, there are enough that are off by a mile that anyone not firmly in touch with book values via shows, etc, should steer clear. GPA, even with it's limited number of transactions, is a much better indicator of market value. Overstreet has it right on 90% of the books...just wondering why they don't adjust their numbers on the others. The others being, of course, the classic books that everyone is interested in.
  7. Love this cover. Curious what the rules are on posting voldemort slabs? I've posted pics that have been pulled down instantly yet not so much in this case. Not trying to cause a stir - just wondering what I'm allowed to do.
  8. Showoff. 3 high grade Atlas books and then a Tec 29 in the back as a bookend. Nice.
  9. I'm not a hoarder but....I have 3 copies of the A30 only because I love the cover so much and I put a bid in that I think won't win and I end up winning. I feel like $165 for that book is a deal when so many other Atlas and PCH books in general with classic covers are going SO much higher. With that said, to Jim's point, all of mine are in the G/VG range. It's like the Menace 11 where it feels like they only exist in lower grade.
  10. I picked up these 3 from the comics4less auction...I'm trying to sell books to fund a home improvement but I keep buying along the way. Makes it very difficult.
  11. I have (trimmed) covers to Startling Comics 44, 47, 49, 51. Also trimmed covers to Silver Streak 23 and DIme Comics 1.
  12. I think I like to do it because I imagine chasing away the bargain seekers early. Not that it matters. Still waiting for ebay to figure out that extended bidding makes money.
  13. I put bids in on about 15 books last night. Prob about 75% of what I'm actually willing to pay on each. Was high bidder on all at that point, and now have been outbid on 2 of them. I imagine I'll watch the rest slowly trickle away over the next few days.
  14. ,,,first high grade MA 26 I've ever seen..... congrats. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) Thanks all - the thing is really beautiful in hand. If I can find a decent scanner I'll give you guys a better look. Appreciate the sentiments.
  15. Hi all - I know nothing at all about pulps. Got a bunch of my dads old comics about 10 years ago and there were these books with them. I have them in a box somewhere. I know you can't see all of them - but I took this shot like 8 years ago and just dug it up.
  16. So I guess in this grade range the missing staple doesn't hurt - but I'm a little perturbed that ComicConnect didn't mention it in the item description. They called it a Fine+ which I suppose it is...but still seems a little disingenuous.
  17. .... that may come from a book beneath it in a stack...... and a missing staple, even production related, should be disclosed. GOD BLESS... -jimbo(a friend of jesus) (thumbs u Def only one staple ever in this book. I checked the centerfold and there's no holes or anything where the second staple should have been. Seems like if it would hurt that grade if it had two and one was pulled vs. just having the one...than that should be in grader notes? As an aside, it does seem weird that a single staple produced book is viewed as in better condition than one produced with two but now has one.
  18. Had the above slabbed. The 26 came back a blue label 4.0 with Off White pages and the 36 came back as a universal 3.5 (detached cover) with WHITE pages! I'm happy with both grades. The 36 really looks fantastic. Nice! I always hold my breath when buying raw books on eBay. Glad these worked out for you. I couldn't agree more. Grade aside, I was just pleased to hear they both came back universal for you! Congrats! Thank you. Reputable seller so I didn't think it was too risky. Ironically, I've only had 2 raw books ever come back with undisclosed restoration. And neither were on ebay. One was HA who handled it well and one was from Metropolis who handled it just ok.
  19. Had the above slabbed. The 26 came back a blue label 4.0 with Off White pages and the 36 came back as a universal 3.5 (detached cover) with WHITE pages! I'm happy with both grades. The 36 really looks fantastic.
  20. Absolutely serious. The scammer will move the money out of the account quickly. You will get your money back from PP eventually, but it's a hassle. A dormant account from a woman who had been selling children's clothes or whatever has about a 0.0001% of being legit. So I'm just realizing that this book sold for about $2600 and hopefully no one was ripped off on it. However, ebay reported it to gpa as they would any other sale so it shows as a large discount to what its really valued at. Is there anything that can be done about that? Makes me wonder how much of gpa I should be trusting. I don't make it to a lot of cons so I have to resort to online sales when figuring how to value something.
  21. Sorry if I missed it but anyone know what's going on with the 7.0 Archie 4 on ebay? Apologies if it's legit, but account hasn't been used in over a year and now this single big book pops up? 2 days left and it's at 30 bids but only $610 - obviously a $4k book or more. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Archie-Comics-4-CGC-7-0-OWW-2nd-HIGHEST-MLJ-Bob-Montana-Tough-Issue/301732651337?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D33277%26meid%3D31c454afce3544818b063b4e06469657%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D301732651337
  22. Im happy with both. Interesting that both books are available in comparable condition in Clink. Although who knows as mine are raw. Just so it's clear that I'm not TOTALLY crazy throwing money around, I bowed out at $6100 on the Pep 34.
