Hi all - figured I'd ask here with the experts vs. in the more general Golden Age thread. Journey Into Mystery #1. I'm looking through the census and I see 1 8.5, and the next highest is a 7.5 My little 6.5 only has 6 graded higher with 44 graded lower. I know Atlas books, especially black covers, are tough in high grade...but this seems extreme especially given how much $$ this book usually sells for. Are there known high grade copies of this book floating around in the raw? Maybe a pedigree? I've got a few early River City JIMs, but don't know if a #1 exists? Any help appreciated...thanks.

I just noticed this gorgeous book coming to auction on ComicLink's Fall Featured Auction starting 11/15. According to GPA this last sold for $13,145 February 25th, 2010. But...it had previously sold for $17,250 August 11th, 2005! After the Mile High, next highest is three copies at 9.0 and then two at 8.0!
Does anyone else notice a 7.5 sold for $12,800 February 1st, 2015 and then the same book sold for $5,285 on November 17th, 2016?! Someone get huge steal??
Has this book "crashed" since 2015?
Who's willing to guess as to what the final hammer will be?
Hard to say since it is the Mile High BEST known copy but there are 37 copies on census...18 of which are fine (6.0) or above...
$21,388 is my guess but I could be waaayyyy off
What do I know....but classic GGA has been ridiculously hot for a while now. And that Church Startling 49 that broke $100k last year really was amazing. Brenda 14 isn't exactly that book (although it's completely awesome), but I'm thinking at least $40k for this one.

Staining and detached cover. But yeah, I think it looks pretty decent for a 2.5 Here's back cover.

While 29's seem to be popping up a bit more often at auction...a nice complete, non-conserved blue label copy still seems to be a bit difficult to come across...:) I haven't posted this in a couple of years since I picked it up.

RANGERS 26. A classic GGA book that I hate to sell. Tough to grade, but I will call it a FN+. It is certainly a tough book to find, so I will need $
795720 for it.I'll take it. Miss the copies I sold.

@dannyboy Awesome pickups! The 4 gets a lot of the attention but the 3 has a pretty great cover with the skulls and those guys carrying those coffins up the stairs!
Thanks bud. The 3 is absolutely my favorite.
