  1. I pick up nice UK editions... partly because I have so many of my USA wants/needs and the beast needs to be fed
  2. if that old 'mushroom jungle' UK version proves ungettable, maybe pick up one of these
  3. another Au$$ie SF PB in: 1955 reprinting a novella that ran in SF+ in 1953. It's the only one in a series of 8 that isn't a 'clone' of US or UK books. 114 pages saddle-stitched (2 staples and folded -like a slightly thinner Avon Fantasy Reader) with a fun little logo. It's a bright, clean, and solid copy. BC ad is for one of those mags that you 'buy for the articles'...
  4. The film is classic: saw it in movie house (or drive in) back in the day and then on TV a couple of years ago. The novel is worthy as well...
  5. surf has spelled the author's name correctly in the above post: it was Beacon that went awry
  6. might have read it long ago but can't remember...plan on reading the Aussie copy. did recently reread 'One Against Herculum' and liked that.
  7. My first Aussie PB: 1958. Paid a bit but hard to find. No spine text but yellow and white of BC continues onto it.
  8. Since I inherited the bound set of Astounding 1947-1959 that my brother and I put together back in 1960s (his idea to bind...) when my local shop got in a couple of nice 1943-1946s (not seen often in wild) a quest began... The digests began with the Nov 1943 (second from left in top row), making 38 issues pre-1947 of which I bought 27- skipping a few lesser covers...
  9. congrats on the blunder: if I am needed I am here in Santa Rosa: cheers
  10. the hardbacks were Doubleday-/-SFBC, true firsts for all that: 1973
  11. wishlist2: this thread makes one hunger for cool images: folks, J33?
  12. found these in my 'wish list' file...
