First Edition HARDBACKS .... the "Bookie" thread.
Pat Calhoun replied to jimjum12's topic in Pulp Magazines
since I have the original 1933 version of the Gazolba story in this 1960 collection (I don't own the above WT), as 'The Voyage of King Euvoran", I used the first paragraph of it... -
First Edition HARDBACKS .... the "Bookie" thread.

after seeing the above have decided to post the tribute I made up for CAS birthday today here: it consists of a WT Dolgov cover and the first paragraph of the story shown, the latter makes a strong slug of the old Klarkash-Ton moonshine... -

At what point did the Comic Book overtake the Pulps?
Pat Calhoun replied to bronze johnny's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Merry Christmas, and that means too busy to give topic attention it deserves right now, but a quick thought would be how important it would be to factor in the history of newspaper comic strips. I especially think of Spoon Tracy: in many ways Batman is Spoon with a mask on... Cheers! -

Comics, Pulps, and Paperbacks: Why such a discrepancy in values?
Pat Calhoun replied to Reno McCoy's topic in Pulp Magazines
one of the reasons my comment on d-wad's 'City Girl' got obscured (don't blame the kief) is that this thread has gotten so darn busy by the time I posted topics had veered and even a page break (they do wonders for continuity). But the busyness of the thread is a very good thing, and I commend y'all. And it's not in vain: I picked up these two Aces recently after seeing OtherEric's (S) and frozentundraguy's (D) copies of them here... -
Comics, Pulps, and Paperbacks: Why such a discrepancy in values?

All I can remember of the movie is his airship like a big boat sailing through the sky, but my morning paper route had the nasty habit of making me seek shuteye at the drive-in...so maybe missed something, too many eons to be sure... And the paper route paid for my GA collection... I'll add with a click of the old mouse a salute to Price's 'cousin' across the pond, Christopher Lee. -

well I was referencing d-wad's 'City Girl' as whit-schul, and left off mentioning Leigh as I assume all hail her as the amazing author of 'The Sword of Rhiannon'. just for the record, some, including myself think Saunders and the Cimmerian make a good match, not to mention the two awesome 'halves' of the supreme D-36. -

the feet are sweet, but Harry Whittington and Robert Schulz make another nice pair- here's image of his original art to 'The Sword of Rhiannon' Ace D36 -

I'm a huge Crom fan, having had coverless copies of the three issues he appeared in, bought for a penny apiece back in the mid-1960s. I think the Out of this World comic inserts = coverless Out of this World #1 & Strange Worlds #1 with Crom continuing into #2. -

This one's got 'Marihauna' in it, as well as 'Rear Window', and his supernal classic 'The Night Reveals'. -

Happy Birthday Cornell Woolrich. I ordered a copy of this edition (stock image) to celebrate. Mag version was Argosy 1939: 'The Eye of Doom'. -

Super congrats to SA on scoring the incredible signed Ray Johnson original cover art painting of a PB classic. (and tip o'hat to Electricmastro whose ID of Green Girl to RJ started the ball rolling back on 11/25/20...)
