  1. I had hoped I would never have to post here, but sadly I must.

I nominate boechler be added to the Probation List, justification as follows:

Agreement to buy books from him July 6, and payment was mailed to him the next day. First inquiry about the status of books made towards end of July, with response of having been too busy. Inquiry #2 made near end of August, with response being he wrote the wrong address and the post office screwed up by never informing him the package was returned to the post office. Inquiry #3 made over a week ago, PM has not been read.

I think that's been long enough.

  2. My VCC purchases came today from szelim and I'm extremely happy!! Thanks! Kudos for szelim!!!

And kudos to szelim for a very nice copy of Venus #2 from the VCC (thumbs u

More VCC Kudos to szelim for a slabbed Planet Comics #57. Packaging was top-notch and shipped very quickly. :headbang:Golden Age is drawing me further and further in.

And kudos back to all you guys as well as to genrlzod for super speedy payment! (worship)

  3. Sometimes, people read messages from electronic devices but are away from their regular computer and can't answer, or don't want to send Paypal from a remote computer.

Good point and as we've seen this summer, some people have to travel for work (including internationally) and can be gone for a week or two.

Another tip is to check their profile page and see if they have an email address listed.

You can also check the member's profile to see when his last post was. That could give some insight whether he's unable or unwilling to respond to your PMs.

  4. Regarding the new/low post count member issue, has there been an epidemic of such people who turn out to be bad sellers?

Not an epidemic, but there are quite a few, and the major issues with scams always revolve around newbies, as long-terms members have a rep to protect.

And don't be fooled by the lack of posts highlighting these problems, as most people are too embarrassed about being taken in by a low-post scammer to ever outline it in public.

I was just wondering because I'm currently trying to work through a problem in completing a deal with a relatively new member. It might very well be an epidemic that's mostly unreported.

  5. Regarding the new/low post count member issue, has there been an epidemic of such people who turn out to be bad sellers? Not that I'm against having a restriction (although I'd disagree with a minimum post count that's in the hundreds or more as has been kicked around in the past), but unless there has been a history of such members being more likely to be bad sellers, imposing such restrictions may be a case of a solution that's in search of a problem.

I'd rather that effort be directed to making all members initially and periodically be required to acknowledge each of the marketplace rules, with check-off boxes for each rule. The software would disallow posting in the marketplace unless the ckeck-off list is completed.

  6. Big Kudos to cd4ever! I received my package today and I paid $5 for shipping and the cost for John was $21!!! People wonder why cd4ever gets repeat customers... because he charges a fair price and he is accurate when it comes to grading and his sales threads are some of the funnest and funniest threads around! (thumbs u

    Amen to that!

PS, more kudos to cd4ever for the most recent set of books I received. Rock on! :headbang:

  7. Alright! I got a response, here it is...

My wife has all of the money from the comics and she has told me that she cannot issue you a refund.

    Sorry

    meh

Won't he have money after the tax rebate check comes in?

  8. Sorta of like a hit and run approach

This is a very touchie thing and a bruised ego will turn to bitter feelings pretty quickly. In this situation a PM would be your best option.

That's unfortunate, because, as someone who doesn't have nearly the experience at grading or detecting restoration from scans as more seasoned graders, I would find it beneficial to read about alternate opinions for books which have given grades that are way off.
