  1. One of my favorite books in the run…I always liked the “fire and ice” combo, and also enjoyed Marvel Team-Up #23 for that reason…beautiful copy, Patrick!
  2. There aren't really any vintage comic shops in San Francisco anymore that I know of, but there are two great shops in the South Bay (about 45-60 minutes south of SF) that are owned by the same guys (Alan and Phil): Heroes - https://www.heroescomicbooks.com/ Heroes and Champions - https://www.facebook.com/HeroesaChampions/ While searching for their websites, I came across this cool journal entry from @dover that pretty much sums them up: Hope you have a great trip!
  3. Did it have any pressable defects? From the image you provided, I see two tiny spine ticks that probably kept it at 9.6, but they could be scanner artifacts...
  4. I saw this book in the recent ComicLink auction...good luck with the sale!
  5. Huge thanks to @CGC Mike for running the contest, and congrats to @jbpez, @Mr. Zipper and @Superman2006 for hitting the top three!
  6. I thought I read something about this being attributable to the loss of disc height in our spines as we age, but I could be remembering incorrectly... I'd assume some people have less disk degeneration than others, which could explain why some people lose height and others don't? Okay, back to the Truckee Meadows books...strong result on the Flash #139 in the most recent Heritage auction...congrats!
  7. I’ve been a fan of George’s work since his early days on the Avengers, and had the chance to meet him once when I got a sketch from him at SDCC…he was such a joy to interact with, and you could tell he really cared about his fans. This is a massive loss to the comic book universe…condolences to his wife, Carol, and his family and friends. Thank you for everything, George…rest in peace.
  8. Beautiful copy...congrats! The front cover looks so clean that I'm assuming any major defects are on the back cover?
  9. This book is from the Truckee Meadows collection, which is discussed here... I think most (if not all) of the books from that collection so far have white pages, which is crazy...
  10. I'm thinking 7.5 as well, and am also not sure if a press would help...there's just enough color-breaking wear, especially on the front cover. Beautiful copy of a cool book!
  11. Oh man, this is so sad...RIP to one of the true legends.
  12. I'm not sure if that's a stain or a printing error...if it's the latter I'm assuming CGC gave it a pass...
  13. That totally makes sense...thanks for the info!
  14. Has there already been an SDCC attendee ticket sale? I never saw any emails about it...
  15. I totally agree, and would choose ASM #3 over ASM #50 for this reason...
  16. The website has the updated dates for 2022 and some guest information, but no exhibitor information yet as far as I can see... https://www.torpedocollectorscon.com/ Looks like tickets are on sale.
  17. I would have expected the mid-grades to bump up as well, but the two mid-grade copies in this auction appeared to sell for less than current GPA: 6.0 for $28,800 (April 9) 6.5 for $36,000 (April 11) I wonder if the 7.0 sold for such an aggressive amount because it's in a first-generation slab? I could see people bidding it up because it's less likely to be pressed and could get a grade bump if it were pressed.
  18. I totally agree...since you can't see the interior of the book once it's slabbed, detailed graders notes for interior defects should be included to help people understand grades that might be considered questionable.
