  1. Could have been a super model photo shop scan by original seller. Otherwise no idea. If you keep your comics at a steady temperature above freezing and steady humidity that isn't extremely low or high you shouldn't have any problems short term. Paper doesn't stay the same forever but 5 10 years is nothing.
  2. toysre_59 Apparently rarely pays.
  3. If it was a good offer they should have accepted or countered. If it was a fair offer they should have accepted or countered. If it was not a reasonable offer they may be unhappy with a low ball and trolling you. What I sometimes do if it was a reasonable offer and they just have a unreasonable price is offer like a $100 bucks less than their asking price which is likely well above fmv and see if and how they respond. Usually it's a fast yes. I turn the tables on them and let them message me numerous times a day. When they give up I reply how I was away and ask if the offer is still available and obviously at that price it is. Ignore their replies again a few times. Then tell them I don't get paid till Friday is that ok, obviously at that price it is. Eventually ending with how my 3 year old got on and made that offer without my permission.
  4. Yes. Usually they only have 2 to 4 spine tics but with cgc it is always possible to have a mistake or poor grader or something. I have seen a few 9.8s with a dozen spine tics. So if I am lucky enough to have bought some then there are many more out there and I have seen pics of them as well browsing. Seen some 6.0 ish graded 9.8 but that had to be a mistake, cgc worse grader couldn't be that bad. You shouldn't be surprised. Thats not a super desirable book but I figure a dealer could sell any cgc 9.6 darth vader cover for $20 or $30 so you get what you pay for.
  5. I should say they received. Anyways I value these books accordingly. I would sell a true 8.5 first and keep the 7.5 with the near mint front cover.
  6. I haven't noticed any difference. I have had many books with 9.4 9.6 9.8 front covers yet cgc graded them accordingly to their criteria and I received 6.5 8.0 etc. I agree though that certain defects and their location are preferably to others. I would say just about anyone who buys the book and not the grade agrees.
  7. It's not. I never said it was. The more dealers the less each dealer needs to pay.
  8. You don't need anything. All depends on how many people you want and how much profit or cost you want.
  9. I did this for a friend. Fair warning he didn't think more than few hundred would show up and it was closer to 10k than a thousand. I am not sure we are as good of friends since this. So your goal is to break even and not profit. Then every dealer lcs within 2 or 3 hours should want to show up. Probably further if you sell them on it. The ones who don't will next time. Advertising is free. Message boards at businesses. Flyers at lcs. Facebook groups. Local radio stations will let you come on and talk about it. Local newspaper will do a interview and story. Craigslist cities near you. If you want thousands of people then craigslist Chicago, Louisville, st Louis, Cincinnati Columbus, Indianapolis etc etc. What are costume convention? Cosplay? People love cosplayers, good thing to bring in people. Anybody who doesn't hear about your con will when they see cosplayers wandering around town. Another point, flyers at local businesses. It benefits them to have a large number of people out and about in their town. Food vendors, people want to eat and drink and will stay longer. Food trucks. Any comic book artist within a few hours of you? Contact them. Don't forget to have dinner and drinks with them and get a few things signed if that is your think. Free to attend? Your going to need a bigger boat. There's my blueprint. I am not responsible for long bathroom lines, people selling drugs,or stopping someone from just grabbing and taking off with a expensive book etc. Good luck.
  10. I wouldn't want to use a presser who didn't have long wait times right now.
  11. I would do some research. A few hours of reading and you will learn if a press clean will be beneficial and who are the best. Or send out a couple books to different pressers and whatever produced the best results you send your books to. I don't know why you would assume to rule out cgc pressing.
  12. Auctions are hit or miss. They can be good on something that isn't in demand, especially if listed poorly. It's not often I hit buy it now on a cgc book. But if the seller has make offer I will make a offer. They usually reject but sometimes they accept or at least counter. I don't worry about high asking prices. I seen books at say $1500 and offered a fmv or under price of $800 and had them accept it. I just ignore the asking price and make a reasonable offer. If no buy it now I will put a watch on it. I don't pay any attention to it but sometimes i will get a email and they lowered the price. Sometimes that price is good. Figure they need bill or drug money.
  13. I haven't figured people out yet. Just about everyday I find myself saying how they let me get this that cheap. Why would someone pay so much. Why would someone slab that book. I do know that a lot of people don't want to pay for gpa. A lot of peo (yeah my post just got submitted mid sentence, that was a first.) Ple don't know you can view sold results. I figure some are too lazy or just don't care. They want it and aren't turned off by the price.
  14. I usually find a handful of deals each week but never on hot books or big keys. I am 2nd highest bidder plenty of times so someone else is getting deals as well.
  15. Can only guess. Outsiders had 2 bidders who wanted the book. The 2nd copy had 1 less bidder. If the winner of the 1st one seen the 2nd well I can't see them being happy. 2nd guy is though. On the silver surfer fomo set in for the ones who missed out on the first one. Or maybe they figured the 2nd copy would be cheaper. The surfer is stranger.
  16. This^ Although I would say it removes $30 to $50 because I would spend that much more for a non scuff case. Tell me a few of your books have the inch or 2 scuff lines? If not then you better go play the lottery. I wouldn't think it would be possible to buy 25 slabs and not get any scuff lines.

  18. I would sell them whatever method makes me the most money. I have sold many runs for full pop. Does someone working 60 80 hours a week stressed out really want to put together a run shopping for individual books? The hard part is finding someone who actually collects full runs and has the money to buy it. And having a full run. Like if you have been selling for a decade or more you miggt not have a avengers 55 57, FF 36 45 or xmen 101 221. Any series that doesn't have more than 5 keys I am selling the whole series. Sandman I know 1 and 8 and now maybe his brother or something. I would bet a lot of people who want 1 will also be interested in 8. What am I going to do with the rest of them? I don't know much a of these series but I am not listing and packing books that are worth $3 $5 $10 or even $20. I know people want saga 1, chew 1, east of west 1, they wanted that reborn 1 for like 5 days, do they still want god country 1? I dunno but I haven't heard much from the other issues so they are trash to me as a seller but I bet someone wants to read them or have them all and is willing to pay to do so.
  19. A reholder is just cgc removing the book from the slab and as long as they don't notice any damage to the book they just give it the same grade etc. If you or someone who is not affiliated with cgc opens the slab it becomes submitting a new book. You may or may not get a 9.8 again. You won't get the yellow signature series label. And depending on the book, if you leave any trace of your staple replacement it will likely be detected. Rusted staples shouldn't be a 9.8 If it's an expensive book you should consider yourself lucky if cgc missed it. Or it was stored in a poor environment for comics.
  20. I don't put them in direct sunlight in rooms with south facing windows. Other than that I don't worry about it. I work and watch tv in the dark. If I lit my display I would have friendly lighting. You could always build or replace the glass in your display case with uv blocking glass.
  21. Sounds awful. My books will sit unorganized, unscanned, and in whatever bags and boards I bought them in until they are sold.
  22. There was enough collectors in 2018 to hike the price up when disney bought them. Gotta get my copy now before it gets out of hand. I promise you under normal circumstances it won't get under 4k. At that price point I will buy every copy and I know plenty of people who won't let me get it cheaper and will most likely be in at 5 and 6 if not higher. Collectors and dealers aren't needed though. I believe there are plenty of speculators out there that believe they could buy it for 10 grand and it will instantly become 15 or 20 grand when the x-men trailer comes out.
  23. Prices tanked pretty good spring 2020 so where were they then?
