  1. I have to disagree. Just because you don't post in 'Comics General' or one of the other forums all the time, maybe this isn't the place for you? That seems pretty exclusionary to me. I love reading the main forum, I just don't post there a lot. To be honest, I don't have a whole lot of time to spend posting on the board, but I read whenever I can. I've made several transactions on the Marketplace threads, so I basically fall square in the sites of people that perhaps don't belong here (according to your comments). Every person that posts here is different and it's nearly impossible to pigeon hole a whole group of folks by their posting proclivities. This is not a knock on you or your comments Jim, but more of a defense of my position and other folks in my position as a (newer) board member.

Big time thanks to the following folks: RobbieC for a couple of Silver Surfers that bring me closer to completing that run ajaxfarrell for a sweet Blue Bolt Weird Tales custom clock (Hanging right above my desk at work!) boomtown for Silver Surfer 3,5 & 7 CoinAddict for a Walking Dead lot (GREAT read, btw) GACollectibles for some sweek Strange Tales moonlite for a couple of Essentials/Showcase trades nochips for some nice lots qualitycomix for some misc bronze books Flaming_Telepath for some Amazing Adventures towards2112 for the Punisher Ltd series Ok, I think that's it. I promise to keep more current next time
  3. Bunch of Kudos to catch up on....the most recent two are pirate and Cap Ffreak for purchasing some krappy stuff from my krappy VCC booth. I think they felt sorry for me, but thanks nevertheless! More to come.....
  4. I've been against this from the start. There are multiple places for people to hawk their wares on the Internet. The Marketplace shouldn't be another of their stops unless they are able to stick around and contribute to the Forum as a whole. This includes spamming their eBay wares. I'm sure it's helping CGC's new member count but it's definitely hurting the quality and general good faith aspect of this Board. What started as a great idea is becoming in alot of respects as much a buyers beware area as eBay. I'm not sure that's good for the Marketplace, the Forum, or CGC themselves since they sponsor these Boards... Jim But how do you define 'contribure to the Forum as a whole'? It's problematic trying to define just how a member 'contributes', because they're not all the same. I'm a moderator on a prominent sports board and have 13000+ posts on the board and would probably be considered a 'positive contributor'. However, when I first got to that board 5 years ago (and for probably a year after), I posted very little. I lurked most of the time and got to know every board member by reading their posts and mostly keeping my mouth shut. I learned the lay of the land and the unspoken (and spoken) rules that every board has....and there are plenty of them. Instead of shouting and acting the fool when I joined here, I read (and continue to read) threads every day and comment now and again, but still have a ton to learn about the place and all of the members here. It really is a great place, but, like any forum, you've got to earn your way in to the circle of trust....and that mostly just takes time. At least for a person like me. I always felt like slow and steady wins the race when it comes to ingratiating myself into a new community. Obviously everyone is different, and many people post early and often.....but there are many quality posters that don't. Some great members just are more comfortable reading and getting to know people before pushing themselves onto the membership. Some never post at all (or very little). I had a very small VCC booth and sold to a couple of members (Cap & pirate) and have only sold a couple of other things in the 10 months I've been here. I have bought a boatload of stuff though and am currently accepting time payments for a higher ticket item that I am selling to another member privately. I've had some great interactions with boarddies through PM's as a result of perusing the marketplace. I'm not sure what I'm really trying to say here, other than that you can't really measure a man by his post count. I do see the challenge, however. Just wanted to add my (as worthless as that may be ).

  24. From Wikipedia: In Great Britain and in Ireland the word muppet has come to be used as a mild term of abuse, meaning a stupid, incompetent, or moronic person, or the obvious interpretation of someone who is inanimated or somehow not there. In a physical context alluding to the tendency for Muppets to wave their arms around or otherwise move clumsily on-screen. It is often used mildly affectionately. It can also be applied (in the United Kingdom but not in Ireland) to an aesthetically displeasing individual.
  25. If anyone needs proof the collecting golden age comics will change your perception of reality, look no further than this post. Annihilus referred to himself in first person. Congrats Annihilus and welcome to the real world! MrBedrock is proud of Annihilus. Annihilus will try not to let that happen again! It's tough for a 3rd personer to not let an 'I' or 'me' slip out, especially in a long rambling post. Anyway, thanks for the kind welcome gents. Looking forward to the hunt for those Cole covers. It's funny, but this almost feels like that Cadillac commercial where the older guys see the younger guys pull up in their Caddy and tell them 'Welcome to the world of gentlemen....gentlemen!' Nevermind the fact that Annihilus is not young and you guys probably aren't old. Unfortunately, now some of those Schomburg covers are looking pretty sweet too. Argggh.
