  1. I just read #1 via pdf... It's the pinnacle of Nic Spencer's career... Inconsistent yet striking art style... Incredibly marketable character... Great origin story... I loved it.
  2. Very odd is the specialite of Grant Morrison. Limited series, though... more likely to be a short term pop. Don't overlook the Thief of Thieves / Peter Panzerfaust factor. Image is pitching this material to Hollywood. This looks like a pitch first, sequential entertainment second. ( I've had QUITE enough of "trippy Grant", but if this gets picked up as a movie, BOOM! ) IMHO Are you saying Hollywood is falling over themselves to make a film about a drunken cop and an invisible blue flying horse? Larry, really? NO. I'm SAYING, Image is pitching Hollywood this material. That's all.

  4. re:Print run Bedlam #1 Friendly DM wager? Closest to comichron # wins.
  5. Happy. selling above cover price, Sold out at the Distributor level. Very odd material.
  6. Ugggghhh. Ultimate #15 was a dud. NOBODY cared. I'm dumb. You're smart. I'm quite homely. You are rather handsome.
  7. Harvest is $14 for the set of #1 & #2. great book BUT it's a mini. Manhattan project #1 is a rock solid $30 sale. Saga is headed to the stratosphere. Prices trending upward this week. And Heads up on Ultimates #15 tomorrow. 24 hours before it's release, its out of print / sold out at the distributor level. A second print is being solicited. ULTIMATE COMICS ULTIMATES #15 2ND PTG KOMARCK VAR MARVEL COMICS (W) Sam Humphries (A) Billy Tan (CA) Michael Komarck It's getting media play. The timing on this particular Marvel stunt, might actually work. ( NOBODY cared about last week's stunt ) Personally, as a fan, I've had enough. The speculator in me is excited. I love opportunity. It will be one of those real short window books. It will NOT pay your mortgage. It might buy you dinner or a nice vacation. SPOILER WARNING. Don't click ANY of the links if you don't want to know. http://wapo.st/U7QF7V Apologies in advance. I know crystal ball predictions are not for this thread, however based on my past excellent sales of Ultimate story lines, I'm looking for more: http://marvel.wikia.com/Divided_We_Fall Also digging these out of warehouse today: http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb57090/marveldatabase/images/0/08/What_If%3F_Vol_1_26.jpg
  8. The concept statement ALONE caused me to pull the trigger & order the most copies of Peter Panzerfaust of any retailer. Peter Pan vs Nazi's. THAT'S cool as mess. The book itself underwhelmed. Mediocre at best. I was bored after #1. Best of luck, but it better get to Peter Pan vs Nazi's FAST.
  9. We have been hand selling Revival for months as an "anti zombie book."
  10. Hey Chuck, It seems to me, that the healthiest way for a book to grow and gain a following is by positive word of mouth , that makes it grow month to month. readers. retailers. collectors. speculators. bums in a alley. Doesn't matter. Buzz sells comics.
  11. >>means comments like yours<< Well, it certainly is a comment, BUT it's also a fact. Revival #1 3rd printing is going to backorder at Diamond almost a week before it's release. Also. I don't know how much you know about Image or their creator owned publishing mechanics, BUT creators pay for their own printing. on new material a lot of these guys do not have the deepest pockets to let the presses run wild. ( Pssst: I am a retailer. It's my job to hype comics. )
  12. I understand your logic, BUT here's the catch. I don't think its intentional. At the time retailers order Revival #1 second prints ( or insert book here) are literally falling off the shelves. Retailers have NO need at the time. ( and limited money ) They order light. Publisher/ creator prints light. ( they too have limited funds ) Opportunity presents itself for individuals with speculatory skill sets. Can you spot a trend? Do you have grading skills? $
  13. FYI: Revival #1 third printing is SOLD OUT at the distributor level almost a week before it's release. just sayin... REVIVAL #1 3rd ptg IMAGE COMICS (W) Tim Seeley (A) Mike Norton (CA) Jenny Frison For one day in rural central Wisconsin, the dead came back to life. Now it's up to Officer Dana Cypress to deal with the media scrutiny, religious zealots, and government quarantine that has come with them. In a town where the living have to learn to deal with those who are supposed to be dead, Officer Cypress must solve a brutal murder, and everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect. A beautiful "farm noir" that puts a new twist on the zombie genre, created by NYT Bestselling author TIM SEELEY and acclaimed artist MIKE NORTON. Item Code Stock Status JUL128088
  14. I see your point. I listed a lousy price. I agree. Pinpointing a new book's value is tough. I guess the point I was trying to convey is that there is a ton of interest in the series. It's volatile. My market report is created for my newsletter that has a 30% open rate. I cycle & repeat a lot of information. I got lazy on my pricing. Revival #2 is STILL a cover price book at my shop. HOWEVER, I have sold 10 packs at $119.99 on E bay. The actual current value lies somewhere in between.

  16. My two cents on Gambit. The new Marvel series has been very well received. It has only been selling like a mid-range X book. HOWEVER it has an abnormally large female following. Our hobby is a "what have you done for me lately, hobby" Simple.Gambit is getting exposure & play on the new comic shelves. His key appearance is getting more interest.
  17. Thanks for asking. like any competent retailer, I have direct contacts at every major publisher. Regarding Valiant Black. I have had a text conversation with Atom! Freeman Sales Manager Valiant Entertainment "It went out one copy per to our top 500 retailers." It's a promotional tool. NOT a variant. On the industry professional message boards CBIA shops worldwide are reporting the poor condition these promo items arrived in. ( my shops copy looks like it got beat up with a bag of nickels )
  18. >> As with the rest of the variants it will drop in price as more of them are made available.<< It's NOT a variant. It's a promotional item, most of which are in atrocious condition due to poor packing & the black cover.
  19. >>Digital copies will only whittle it away all that much more.<< I thought that would be the case as well Chuck, however it appears that digital is actually expanding the print base. It is bringing in new readers. The 1,800 remaining direct market shops are for the most part experiencing a 20-30% increase in business over the last year. Daily, my shop gets customers that discovered material online & now want it in print. ( I have been saying for years that Trades & hardcovers ARE just back issues with thicker spines. Amazon sales for out of print material backs this up nicely )
