I was just talking about GPA in the Showcase 4 thread, GPA is great but far from complete. I've paid and sold book for multiples of GPA. Love it but wish they captured more sales. But if you do your homework, which includes GPA records - you can make an informed purchase, like kimik said earlier i believe, paying over GPA for keys is pretty common. I bet there's more than a few that would sell for well over the current GPA. And besides, if you really need a book that rarely comes up for sale, or is within a collectors budget - GPA ain't gonna stop a true collector from buying it. And that my friends is why prices ( and GPA) are rising

Thank goodness my man Joey already hooked me up with a sweet looking blue 4.0 early last summer before the recent price spikes. Otherwise I wouldn't even think twice about it. Haha, fair enough. Either way, the price is good. Data is hard to come by on this book and I bet you could sell that 4.0 for $8K+ in a few months at most. Indeed! Lots of trades not recorded by GPA - while I use it constantly - its not a complete record of sales. I base my pricing on several factors to arrive at either what I'm willing to pay for a book or sell it. I do wish they'd get ComicLink to submit

Wow, and I sold a 4.0 for $4k (albeit with LT/OW pages) only a couple years ago! If like you say it's $9k for a 4.0 now, that's $5k more! Holy cow.

Timing could be a factor. Restoration removal and slabbing a book can tie It up for months. If someone needs money sooner that might motivate selling it on its potential. Maybe the buyer will show up and enlighten us. Right . . .

Could be Eh, it is more fun to speculate on values than seller intentions... FYI - (joining in on the "fun") I contend that people in general are lazy and that unless this seller was someone who buys and sells books regularly, things like "removing resto" are outside of their interested activities. Either that, or they are just stupid (assuming of course that the resto could be removed without dropping the grade significantly). I think you're right about that.

Not sure if that's even possible. Asking prices on Clink for blue 4.0 is around the 7k mark now? Perhaps the buyer was hoping to remove the slight CT and get it to a blue 3.5 or so? Copies of this book seem few and far between. Perhaps owners are hoarding these waiting for new DC movies to actually kick Marvel ? IE: Anything better than the last GL movie . Right now, Marvel is getting movies right. That equals excellent growth for books (Witness ToS 39, AF15, Avengers 1 & 4, JiM 83). And even speculative growth for movies which are in early stages (FF52, ST110 etc). SC4s will come out of the woodwork once a movie is firmed up and soar if the movie is actually good. I just want an affordable (yeah right, I know) copy. With a $5K sale on a PLOD 4.0, it wouldn't surprise me if people start asking for a lot more than $7K for a blue 4.0... Based on other PLOD sales versus Blue labels, the pricing gap is typically larger than 29% - even for SA. The buyer of this book may have the restoration removed and discover it doesn't even drop a grade point as a 4.0 allows for a lot more flaws then say a 7.0 copy would - so starting with a copy that's already lower grade, with only minor color-touch on the cover, could be a good gamble that it could get into a blue of a similar (or same) grade. I can't even see why they bothered to color-touch the book and yet leave a ton of color-breaking creases untouched. This book might be a in blue before too long.

I guess we should all feel a little relieved that it appears to be on the right track. I wish they'd give us a look over the summer instead of having to wait until fall.

She definitely wasn't top on my list to play Wonder Woman. But I am trying to think positive, and hope this turns out well. I agree with you, we should try to look at the positives. Someone is spending a ton of money and going to bust their to make a movie we'd all (well, a lot of us anyway) would like to be made. Still the casting choices confound me . . .

It is tricky getting restoration removed, but if the book has very little done to it and it's restricted to a really small area you can get "lucky" - but that's what it is, not a sure bet by any shakes. My SC #1 had some really minor color-touch and I had it removed and it got a 7.0 and I can't see really where the C/T was removed. But if Matt said that he couldn't do it without damaging the book I would have opted to leave it alone and take the PLOD. With the new restored slabs CGC announced, a book with very minor color touch will get a lighter sentence so-to-speak, and maybe this book would be a good deal for someone at $3k +/-

yeah i think that was one of the best scenes in the movie just like how the white house scene in X2 was. i think both DC and Marvel were watching to see how FOX/Singer handle superspeed. I liked it. He really nailed what this power can do. yeah i think superspeed is the hardest power to show on screen in movies or shows. i can't wait to see how CW/DC handles the flash over all and the same goes for Age of Ultron. By showing it all unfold in slow-motion, was a great way to deal with it, as opposed to having sped-up footage of an actor running from point to point - that ALWAYS looks goofy.

With the quality on TV lately, it may play a bigger role in future character launches
