  1. Unfortunately, your book is likely to come back with a "writing in pen on cover" designation on the label. CGC does not accept any verification of autographs but their own Signature Series books. I'm not sure if the book will be graded down based on the "writing." For a value, I'd suggest you try to determine the approximate grade you think it will receive and then find a value for that on GPA or eBay sold listings. I should add, that if you do decide to submit the book for grading and you have a Certificate of Authenticity for Kane's signature, DO NOT send it in with the book. CGC does not recognize COAs and will in fact throw it in the trash if it's in with the book.
  2. Your sacrifices are always appreciated.
  3. Don't really need the Mistress to be good at math.
  4. That's a beautiful copy! Just received an email from ComicLink that they will have an FF #5 in 9.4 in the next auction . If anyone has $150,000+ burning a hole in their pocket....
  5. They're "Lakeside Skin Tattooz" and their inclusion makes the book a "variant" in the eyes of My Comic Shop (at least). There are a number of issues of different titles around this time that have them. You want to leave them in the book. Amazing spider-man comic books issue 238 (mycomicshop.com)
  6. Also, that Dave was (apparently) smart enough to realize that if he didn't charge reporters for asking questions, he would get more favorable coverage.
  7. Reading that piece about Jimmy Jacobs makes me wonder if we shouldn't start a "Comic Book Collectors Hall of Fame."
  8. The original, 1961 series goes through #416. The second series was 13 issues. The third series was 171 issues The fourth series was 16 issues The fifth series was 18 issues The sixth series was 48 issues The "legacy numbering" (counting everything published under the name "Fantastic Four") is 645 issues through the fifth series, but the series all have their "#1!" issue probably because Marvel thought they'd sell more.
  9. Based on fairly recent prices paid, I would probably get the 10 books I need between 9 and 25 in the raw equivalent of 8.5
  10. I stop at #400 and this Annual. I do have some FF TPB's and a few Volume 2 books.
  11. Estate Sale today. Has a 1950 copyright notation but is in better condition than I would expect from something actually issued in 1950. In any event, if you need a Trail Boss to run your kid's Savings Rodeo, hit me up.
  12. I've been stuck at one copy since about 1974, but this section of the run is probably due for an upgrade. A lower-grade copy, obviously a garage-sale refugee although I'm pretty sure I picked it up from Apache Books which is where I bought the bulk of my Silver Age books in those days.
  13. Red Harvest is a great read. I've called out "back to Philly, Al!" in all kinds of crowd situations just for fun.
  14. Not my thing but a pretty decent collection of "I shouldn't have stored these in that damp shed" cans at a local Estate Sale on my way home from work today.
  15. There have been some pretty good sales of underground comix in the last couple of years, so there are clearly collectors on the Boards.
  16. The books offered on here recently have really leveled up.
