Fantastic Four Collecting Thread!
MattTheDuck replied to uclapeterg's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
During my first, major collecting burst, this was the "oldest" FF I had a chance to buy (not counting the remaindered #10). It is representative of the relatively low-grade Silver Age books I generally had a chance to buy. The second copy I picked up from my friend @pickycollector which is one of his patented absolutely beautiful "undercopies." I've mentioned before how crazy it is that no one looked at this cover and decided to move one of the two word bubbles over a bit so everything would fit. -

Many thanks, again, to @DR.X. He said he'd consider coming out and visiting all these books someday. -
Amazing Spider-Man Collecting Thread!

Picked this nice copy up here on the Boards. Interesting back-story of being a Vietnam Vet's copy which was kept in a dresser drawer (which is how I "stored" my comics throughout the 1970s) and which his mom discovered after he'd moved away. Don't know if it's true, but it does sound plausible. -
MCU's DEADPOOL 3 starring Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman (2024)
MattTheDuck replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Fingers crossed, but this did only a little to alleviate my primary concern which is that Ryan is just going to use all the same quips, puns, fourth-wall breaking, self-referential Marvel/Feige "jokes" and sight gags he used in Deadpool and then in Deadpool 2 in this movie (and, if I'm honest, playing the same character he plays in every movie, Marvel or not). I am glad to see there appears to be some kind of actual story rather than just a gag reel involved. Also appears to be another script that relies on being stuffed with characters to fill out the running time. -
You could check either GPA or MyComicShop to get a sense of it.

There's a lot of that intermittent publication in the pulps especially. It's almost like they had to scrape together the money and when they had enough, they'd publish the next issue. Someone around here knows the actual reasons.

The only reference I can find to this is on MCS with a 1915 publication date. O'Sullivan Rubber Co. Likely a later reprint but fun anyway. -

Is ASM #31 the most underrated Spider-Man key?
MattTheDuck replied to Shaun Hill's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
One of the holes in my collection. May be underrated but sure isn’t cheap! Would love to get a high grade copy -

There's a rumor going around that, having hit a dead end in his art career in his mid-20s, Andy Warhol cut out and sent in the coupon from this very book, and that was the turning point that led his to becoming one of the most influential American artists of the 20th Century. That true?

LB Cole Romance Poll Complaints
MattTheDuck replied to adamstrange's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
There are more posts in the complaint thread than in any of the poll threads. 😜 -
It's awesome regardless. Once I sold my "old" set of clubs to the boyfriend of one of my spouse's work colleagues. He had a hole-in-one during his first round playing with them on a local executive course. I've never had one with any set of clubs. My mother had two in her late 70s.
