  1. Everyone is saying the right things here, buy what you love. Period. Stop. But, if you still are indecisive, I'll take care of it for you...Buy what I love - ASM #129.
  2. Too difficult, but all Schomburg covers pretty much qualify as my favourites !!
  3. more possible "money laundering" than anything else. Or maybe the dude just really wanted to win the auction so he put in a crazy maximum bid and someone pushed him to the limit Man, more than double the going rate for a 4.5, that is nuts !
  4. Same here rather own a PSA 4 or PSA 5 with nice eye appeal than a PSA 8 that makes no sens or worse PSA 9 say in T206. No way a 112 year old card is a PSA 9. Pick up this book if you can, such a fascinating read- finished it 2 weeks ago: https://www.amazon.com/Card-Collectors-Historys-Desired-Baseball/dp/0061123935
  5. I almost spit out my coffee when I read the title ......too funny !!
  6. well, keep drinking the java then Another great post, thank you for your (very much respected) opinion. And like I said, I certainly am not anywhere near a major player to say what one should do on here or not, it's a free chat board for anyone to post s**t within reason, but I have just always been very curious about the Man who "Manned Up" initially in the 70's, seemed to have no problem with all the press back then , but now nothing mentioned or shown here of anything current . If I'm being a bit of an a-hole here about that, and I probably am, then my bad I'm sorry. Peace all you geeks, and stay safe
  7. I thought it was low, but who knows - I sold my fugly-cover 4.0 with cream-O/W PQ a couple years ago for more than double that , and i was not happy. I eventually accepted the price when the Cdn $$ conversion kicked in, but I was hoping for well north of 50K USD and it didn't happen. I guess fugly and brittleness seem to be as taboo as PLOD these days on mega keys ...
  8. I think this speaks to the point I was trying to make. To each their own, but for some on here that have a lot of opinions about the hobby - I mean a LOT -- who start their own threads and type and type and type, you'd think they'd share just a bit of their personal stuff if they were true collectors. Again, I could be way off base, but just my 2 cents. The Dentist has THE best collection apparently, but even though he is not on here, and not sharing, that I can respect. But even with him, we all know what he has, even if he isn't on here posting and sharing. Some others, I don't know, I just think I'd "respect" their opinions more if they were still active today in some way.
  9. With all due respect, can I ask what makes up your personal collection Mr. Mitch - I notice you post a lot of commentary regarding the GA market here on these boards, but do you post your books somewhere on this chat Board? I can't remember any posts or mentions of what you have? Maybe that's private, that's fine, but I understand you made a really big purchase once back in the 70's - do you still have that Action #1? Do you have any mega keys ? Just have a lot of time on my hands and really curious. Post away, or if totally private info then my bad.
  10. Rick has answered numerous times, with his unparalleled knowledge of these things, his guestamation of the number of non-registered, not-yet-slabbed mega keys, especially AC#1 I'm good with that.
  11. seriously, I have toyed with the idea of filling in the gaps from 24-100, but just don't like those covers as much .....maybe one day
  12. It was not an easy decision, as I collected and enjoyed 95% of my Actions raw over the last 20 years, but I have now completed slabbing all of them. My 7, 10, 13, 15, 17, 19, 20 and 23 , alas 😢, have found new homes now, but I still treasure these:
  13. Dug mine out tonight, they look great. Love the 1968 number 1’s !!
  14. Can someone give me a PPP for these top 5, but quote for a restored A-5 5.0 for each .... ....... would it equate to approx. what a blue 1.0 would sell for for each (i.e. LDarkseid1 's quotes above) ?
  15. yeah, confirmed here is my answer : Hi, At this time we aren't able to accommodate multi signatures on books if the artists aren't signing together and in this case Frank and Chris have different signing days. Thanks, Bree Palmer Receiving Manager Certified Collectibles Group
