  1. Isn't that the date the listing ends, not when it sold?
  2. Wow. Who would have thought you could sell 10 copies at a time for so much just a few months ago?
  3. It's a numbers game. The more time and effort you put into it, the more good buys you get.
  4. Well, except for those of us who think it should be... Marvel Preview 7 - 'First Appearance of Rocket Raccoon' Summer 1976 IH 271 - 'Second Appearance of Rocket Raccoon' May 1982 My point is Marvel Preview #7 is the first appearance, although a magazine. Some people pimp IH #271 as the first comic book appearance of Rocket Raccoon (with a cover appearance). However, MP #7 is more valuable. Yet Marvel Super Special #16 (magazine) is the first appearance of Boba Fett, but Star wars #42 is more valuable. The same logic does not apply. Yes, the market will decide, but sometimes the "rules" are as clear cut as you think.
  5. No mention on the label, huh? I wonder if they're all like that or if at some point they started making note of it. IIRC, isn't there an earlier non-comic appearance that some claim to be the actual 1st appearance much like Rocket Raccoon? It depends on your definition of a comic book: http://swcomiccollector.blogspot.com/2014/12/first-appearance-boba-fett.html I've also been buying the first appearance of Boba Fett in comics for much less than what people are buying Star Wars #42 for: Star Wars Empire Strikes Back 1980 Marvel Comics 02114 1st UNREAD P4547 It's interesting to me that the 4th printing of the material goes for $700 (granted it is CGC 9.8) but the first printing of the material can be had for $12.50. The comic book format with Boba Fett on the cover will win out every day of the week in the eyes of the wanting. Good luck trying to change the prevailing perceptions. Marvel Preview #7 and Incredible Hulk #271?
  6. I was actually just about to comment on that! I love that graphic novel and those early New Mutants issues. Solidified my love for comics as a kid of the 80s. So I take exception to it being referred to as "schlock". Next up....POWER PACK! Seems like that book would be a natural for Disney. I think it would make a great kids movie.
  7. You are not alone. I did that to a lot of mine. The inserts were annoying when I read the comic.
  8. Because "cameo" and "full". Why do people want 181 significantly more? Why do more people think 181 is significantly more important? Why is 181 worth significantly more? It's because significantly more people believe 181 is the first appearance. Now I will circle back to my previous comment: Take away the qualifiers and what do you have? The point of contention is not which is more important. I've never disputed that. I'll just agree to disagree and leave it that.
  9. Where did Wolverine first appear in a comic story? We're not talking about a solicitation magazine or ad. There he is in his full glory and named. That is a first appearance, no matter how brief. What's so hard to understand? How do we misinterpret that fact? The issue is not what's more important or worth more. We all know more people want #181 more. That's not the point. Where did he first appear as Wolverine in a comic book story? Collectors paying more for #181 doesn't change the fact that he first appeared in #180.
  10. +1 My wife will tell me to throw it away if I bring it to my house. My wife would say, "You're not bringing that into MY house!" I have enough problems trying to sneak a few comics into our house.
  11. Actually he edited his 30 seconds after I edited mine. He originally quoted it as Swamp Thing (no The Saga of). Recheck the times please Hi Alex. jaeldubyoo shows an earlier time-stamp. Also, it's "John Totleben." He doesn't show a different time stamp to me, he only changed after I posted The Saga of. But whatever, it is your game. I'm out. Just to clarify some things since I'm a newcomer to this game and being accused of cheating or manipulation or whatever. On my honor, I did not see anybody's answer prior to submitting mine. I have no idea what people are saying about manipulating timestamp. I stumble upon this game was just having fun participating. I have no wish to cause any hard feelings.
  12. I'm not sure what you're talking about. How could I see your answer before mine was submitted?
  13. John Totleben, The Saga of Swamp Thing #37
  14. I just happened to stumble across this game. Cool game.
  15. That's a sweet book. I never knew this book commands a premium.. I bought it when it came out and forgot all about it (thumbs u Honestly though, Frazetta The Living Legend is by far a much better book portraying the masters sketch work in my opinion, and surprisingly it never really gained much value.. I also just purchased Frazetta's Sketchbook II HC last month which I love and plan on getting it signed by Spurlock next month For my money, the Frazetta books to get are the series put out by Peacock Press in the 70s. Every time I see one for cheap, I feel compelled to grab it.
  16. I don't know, if I recall correctly, Rogue's app in AVA 10 is pretty "brief". I am going to read it tonight and see if it qualifies as "First Full App" . Anyone who's recently read AVA 10 care to chime in? She figured prominently in the book. I counted 27 panels she was in. Not as brief as you remembered.
  17. I think that cover is by Nick Cardy. But Adams did do a Green Lantern back up story in that issue.
  18. I went to a library sale. Nothing really special. I got these for a quarter each.
  19. I suppose all bets are off if there's some kind of Darkseid announcement just prior the end of the tracking period. A movie/TV announcement may skew the average.
