  1. You mean brilliant, not average. No offense, just teasing. You and everyone are entitled to their opinion on art. Buscema is Conan for me. There are many, many Conan examples available and lot's of the interested collectors may already have enough or that one great example and are not interested in more. I believe the character has tons of room to grow in the upcoming years and interest should/will be increasing with it.
  2. Very cool video! Thanks for making it and posting. I have never met John, but it's really great knowing he is a fan at heart and that studio is beyond words.
  3. I read comics and collect runs and art, not high grade or keys. That being said, Marvel Super-Heroes vol. 2 #8 is a great idea to stock up on.
  4. It's not Wolverine, but I just saw this thor by him on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-VINTAGE-ORIGINAL-MARVEL-COMICS-THOR-PAINTING-BY-ALEX-HORLEY-FROM-UNIVERSAL/202571118272?hash=item2f2a2df6c0:g:mkEAAOSwpFtcQ91f:rk:44:pf:0&LH_Auction=1
  5. I agree! Why not just share your Stan Lee stories or don't? Why waste everyone's time with negativity? I used to love reading the movie threads here, but it's all hate now. Why not just try and post positives and shelf the negative opinions? I'm here because comics are a positive part of my life. I met Stan 3 times. 2 were fast sign and go with a wide table, in Chicago and not personal, although, I did attend his QandA panel for both and they are a great way to feel connected to the creator/celeb on the cheap. In 2010, I did the Stan Lee VIP at Detroit Fanfare. The man was sharp as a tack, energetic and very entertaining. He talked to me personally about the original art I was getting signed at a narrow table and his panel was small and personal. He went above and beyond to answer his fans questions at the panel with detail and enthusiasm, especially this one young kid dressed as Spiderman who wanted to know about how Stan got the idea. He was happy to be there and it was very evident. He truly did enjoy being around his fans and I felt special just to have shared the same air and exchange a few words with a legend. One of the highlights of me and my wife's life. We even used our picture with him as our Christmas card for that year and wished everyone a MARVELous Christmas. Age is unkind to us all, but he went hard for his fans right up to the end. He served his country in WW2, promoted tolerance and peace with his writing. He created heroes because he was one.
  6. Show was good for its first time and can grow. Small con with huge celebrity talent. There were not many dealers or artists set up and the place they used was small compared to C2E2 and Wizard World. All space was utilized. My 2 grips are that you could not see or access the talent without an autograph or photo opt ticket. Luckily I had 2 phot opts. There was no waiting in line to meet them without a paying above the entrance fee, which is wrong! The place was oversold on Saturday and not every got a seat for the Chris Evans panel. They also had some very angry VIPs who did not get seated for that panel. I will say that there were more women than men in attendance and lots of complete families.

  10. I thought these were 2 good recent buys on ebay. I did not purchase either because I don't swim in that price range pool that often. The seller of the chillers page listed many other pieces. The better ones like this sold in minutes or less.
  11. Cool page! No slab or grade needed, but you do need to take care of it. An 11x17 mylar with a backer board or a hard mylar shell is step one. Beware direct sunlight and do not store in a humid or dangerous place. I'm not an expert on spidery art, but I believe the content and artist are excellent so it would do well at auction.
  12. Sadly, my 3 favorite Conan artists all died before I could meet them. I love their work on Conan and all did great things in the industry, but for those of you that did meet them and interact, what were they like? Any personal stories? Anything to share? Thanks!
  13. Just a heads up, for modern DC art, you need bigger bags than these.
  14. This will actually help answer the previous question and share a cool way to display art. I recently bought some displays for art and wanted to share. I screwed them into an interior wall, so no temp shifts and there is no natural light in the room. They are easy to hang. I bag and board the art and then once in the frame, it's ready to view and easy to switch out.

  16. http://www.motorcitycomiccon.com/ This show is shaping up nicely. Tom Welling is a great add.
  17. For black and white comic art: Why not frame a copy and keep the original in a portfolio? Why damage the original, and yes it will be slowly damaged, if you don't have to? I have one framed, painted original cover hanging on an interior wall in a room with a 6x8 vinyl spider-man poster covering the already blinded window, so it is light-tight and not affected by temp shift. External wall temp shifts and light will cause all sorts of problems and that risk needs to be considered and will be slow and not apparent until years later when removed from the frame and the waves, tape damage, ink runs or tan shadow are on the art. To each there own, but I like the well stored portfolio system and yes, even that is not 100% risk free, but I feel that it is more sun, theft, fire, water and storm proof that way.
  18. Great show. Met a few boardies and did very good in sales, plus found a few things. Will be back again.
  19. This is the first time, I think. I saw the flyer at a local antique store and ordered a table and thought I would share here. I hope it's good or at least ok. I will be selling toys, comics and maybe some OA.

  21. There was an episode of Comic Book Men where the Kirby heirs brought in a Black Panther page by Jack. I can't remember, was this the page?
