  1. The greatest extra of all time! We are not worthy! Seems fitting doesn't it...
  2. Do you have a link? I don't see it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Incredible-Hulk-1-CGC-2-0-OFF-WHITE-Pgs/141392615672?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131003132420%26meid%3Dc1efb5438216413984b889bb5bfebd23%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D20131003132420%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D201164158187&rt=nc I believe the seller is a boardie. I see him all of the time at different shows. He sets up at shows and he is always buying. I hope his bidder follows through. That's a nice sale for a seller. Good seller. I have bought many books from him. I don't think he is a boardie. I think bomber-bob knows him though.
  3. You've sold nearly $100,000 in raw books on eBay in the last 12 months? Is that net profit or gross prior to any expense and overhead? I was curious of this too. What is your profit margin? To me, $100K with no physical storefront seems very good but that is not an educated opinion as I don't sell many books at all. But given the comments from those in the business, it is apparently not a lot. I actually will be retiring in less than 5 months and the age of 50 and have thought about then starting to pare down my collection. I will have have a guaranteed monthly pension plus have a decent amount of savings but was hoping downsizing will bring in some extra spending money. He said in the other Saga Of Chip thread that, as much of the sales is consignment, he gets less than 25% of the $100K. Thanks, Dan. This makes more sense. Hadn't thought about the consignments. So the 25% more or less is total profit?

  5. Just amazing what has happened with the market and movie hype. I know it's been said about this and other books but this was a bargain bin book and probably still many copies linger in discount boxes.
  6. I can see that concept: I'll die before she does, she'll sell my comics and buy an extended Carribbean trip and get pampered by cabana boys. Of course, I collect Red Sonja and 90's comics, so she'd be lucky to get a tank of fuel and get groped by the transients behind the gas station with the proceeds of my collection. Haven't you heard, Brigette Nielsen is going to reprise her Red Sonja role in a new movie - prices will skyrocket Then and now
  7. I asked this earlier but don't think anyone confirmed. Did Chip list a book(s) for sale or in the Giving thread that had a higher grade than was listed on Ebay or was it just through the PGM thread?
  8. I may have misread the topic. Certainly, a person doesn't need to agree with the grading in the PGM thread. Afterall, folks are garding from a front and back cover scan normally. Without the book in hand, it is difficult to offer an accurate garde. If one is posting higher grades in a selling venue than offered in the PGM thread, I personally see no overt outright fault; however, I thought there was a book or books offered here either in a sales thread or the Giving thread that was expressed as a higher grade on Ebay than was expressed here. If that was the case, I do find that unpalatable but again, Ithere may be an explanation and something I am missing.
  9. So if ajaxfarrell is added to the PL again, it would be the second offense. Just curious about multiple time offenders. I looked at the rules but didn't see anything. I assume each case is separate but wouldn't it helpful to note each date the offender was added? I personally would like to know if there is a pattern with a particular individual.
  10. This really is disturbing if it is true. The grade is the grade, no matter which venue it is placed. To purposely prey on less informed customers via Ebay by bumping the grade is just plain wrong. I hope this can be explained - a good reputation is so hard to get but so easy to lose.
  11. Quite a number over here in the UK. They are often referred to as Silver Surfers. So, I've just realised I'm one now, having turned 50 this year. I'm joining you, my friend. I turn 50 in 24 days.
  12. Ahead of its time and great casting. And the cartoon was excellent as well. Liz Vassey
  13. I just watched five of the featurettes the other day concerning everything to do with Blade Runner (early development, cast selection, production, etc.). Oddly enough, they talked about the t-shirt incident in one of the featurettes. Ridley Scott, during an interview prior to production, was asked where he would rather produce the movie: England or the U.S.A. He said something along the lines of England, because there all the crew would say to anything he stated was 'Yes sir' or something like that. Well, that news made it to the American crew. Quite a few created t-shirts with two sayings. Though they only mentioned the one in the featurette ("Yes Guvnor, my "), including a picture of one of them wearing it. Ridley Scott was tipped off in advance, and wore a counter-statement t-shirt to make it clear he was not expecting people to just bow down to everything he said. It must have worked, because by end of day everyone took their t-shirts off. Were there any women on the crew wearing t-shirts? Must have been a pretty lively set that day
  14. I bought Pizzazz and Dynamite mags. Loved them.
  15. Eisner, Foster, Caniff, Cole, Raymond... they had proper artists back in those days. Thank you. I kept wondering if anyone was going mention Alex Raymond, who has to be one of the most influential artists of "Ever...Ever", according to many of the artists making the list. Yes - Raymond and Foster the trinity - Raymond, Foster and Milton Caniff My personal favourite is Foster. There is no doubt Caniff highly influenced so many others as I've heard in various interviews. Perhaps because I couldn't get into Steve Canyon or Terry and the Pirates strips (although I have the two books below with Powell art who was also great), but I don't dig his art as much as I'm sure I should. Although Dragon Lady is

  18. Wasn't that seller named in a thread that went poof? It rings a bell for some reason. The one with the stolen pic of a large CGC lot of books? http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:nKtzQHeduigJ:boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php%3Fubb%3Dshowflat%26Number%3D7975295+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ca&lr=lang_en&client=firefox-a pre-poof Thanks - that's it.

  20. I have actually been going back and reading these again. Even better than I remembered.
  21. I thought from your post you were asking only about Marvel mags. Lots of good suggestions here. I love the Skywalds and Warrens. I didn't see Epic Illustrated #3 mentioned. It got some attention for Dreadstar.
  22. Possibly the Kiss Marvel Super Specials, The Sgt. Pepper's issue which is hard to find. Forgetting about the Wolverine prototype conspiracy, FOOMs get some attention if you consider those magazines.
