  1. Unbelievable books - I am amazed and appreciate seeing these in one collection.
  2. I think I ordered my first portfolio in the early 1980s from an ad in The Buyers Guide. Probably one from Sal Q. Sporadically over the years, I have added to my collection going after some of my favorite artists and within the last few years concentrating on the more rare, obscure 1970s portfolios from publishers like Middle Earth. It is great showcase of an artist's talent.I had started taking pictures of of the prints but really wasn't pleased with the pictures and as I added more to my collection, I decided to buy a wide format scanner so I could properly scan these. It is a laborious process but I'd like to add them as I go. Hopefully it give a glimpse of what I consider some great artists and a great way to showcase their talents. In most cases, these are signed and numbered which is my preference to add some provenance and a way to a signature that I really couldn't get any other way (like Frazetta and Jones). To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. 3. All I see is *Poof* Yeah, looks like it's been pulled now ... Many seem frustrated by the fact, that they cant their boxes to sell even posting about it in other sales thread. I look forward to the day when none are listed. It was a mistake to allow them in the first place. I agree - get rid of them.
  4. Sorry to hear this, Jeff. You're one if not the easiest people to work with. I know you said joeyrockz hasn't opened his PMs although he may be seeing and reading the messages via his e-mail. Did you send him a message to let him know you were nominating him?
  5. Absolutely! It's posssible, it's possible. Actually it is Dan Aykroyd...
  6. Is this considered Copper Age? mm To me it is. I make it simple, MM. CA starts in 1980 with me but that's just me and very over-simplified. This one is 1986 so I doubt anyone would argue it is CA and not BA.
  7. I agree with that. How that book escaped cancellation astounds me. Amazingly bad. I would think the TV series Lynda Carter's cleavage greatly helped to sell the comic during the years it aired. Fixed
  8. Wow - good stuff, David. How about something about having a proper background color when scanning, i.e. put dark piece of paper when scanning covers that are white in this section: "TIPS ON SCANNING Don't crop the edges of your scans too tight to the book edges and corners. Allow space around the perimeter of the book. Many scanners have default settings to select the image on the scanner bed. It is suggested that you turn that feature off." I also like a poll if the poster gives choices. I get more feedback as it is anonymous and quick for someone to someone to pick from a poll. This would be an optional suggestion of course. And scans are preferred over camera pictures.
  9. I never look at Mystery Boxes either. My preference is to get rid of them entirely. They take up real estate and get bumped too often. A mystery box really doesn't give the seller a pass on going through and valuing the contents to make it legit here so why not sell as a group lot with one of several pictures. No need to list all the titles and specific grades.
  10. Thanks, David for the nice books. Appreciate your communication and packing. (thumbs u Best Jeff
  11. It would be nice to meet up, Jeff. You bet, Paul. Dinner will be on me.
  12. Why not 2015 ? I wish I could, Bats. I have a special needs child that I care for. She will require some major surgery and the plan is to do the surgery next summer after her senior year of high school. But plan to meet up in 2016 and bring some of your sweet BA books
  13. G is top-notch. Bought some sweet SA Bat books from him.His descriptions, prices, shipping and communication were all great. (thumbs u
  14. I'm pretty sure they were all printed in the 60s. Not sure if the Popeye was - may have been the 70s. Let me post some of the back of the ones I posted. I'm still learning about them.
  15. Hey folks from across the Atlantic. I started a new collecting focus (that's all I need). I discovered the Cadet and Primrose Cards. I picked up the following sets - Stingray, Star Trek, Dr. Who and the Daleks, Superman, and a series of Popeye (some of the Popeyes are graded). Not going to post them all but here are a few pics. Many collectors of these over there? I still have plans to come to the London show in 2016.
  16. Guys. I wouldn't want my address posted. You might want to strike the address.
  17. He already did that. I'm not going to quote all of his post but this was in there. "I sent him another message on June 11th, 2014 asking if the book was shipped and the message says he saw it and didn't respond. Today I sent a message telling him that if he didn't respond by today I would file for a refund via PayPal and again, its showing that he saw this message but didn't respond."
  18. I agree it would be nice and good business etiquette to have a seller officially close a sales thread but I would vote against having a rule to make this mandatory. Remember sites like Comiclink allow a seller to list a book and it may not still be available even though it shows unsold. (this applies to their exchange not their auctions, obviously). Unless that has changed with CL, even if someone hits a BIN the seller can say the book is no longer available. I'd be more inclined to say if there is no activity x amount of time, the thread should be considered closed.
