Cool stuff - WTTB!Some fun stuff -- -
the 2 smelled real nice (thumbs u
#2 usually doesn't
Even Billy's or especially Billy's

this great thread has been allowed to lay fallow for a whole month. so, in celebration of completing this cool little run [the 2 was a loooong time coming], i offer....
I have that run too. It was my first GA complete run to finish. Isn't it a fun title - great Schomburg covers to boot.
-
Both non-Superhero (variety is the spice of lfe!) books sold for $7,767
Which one would you choose, and why?
The PL is incredible but I couldn't turn down a 9.2 Fantastic #1 - although not my favorite Lou Fine cover - it is still
-
HEY THERE.....
check this out.
CAP #12.... 1942 + others
Probably ranks in the TOP 5 coolest newsstand pics I have found.
Very cool.
That's Captain Marvel #7, I believe. Cap Marvel #7 according to GCD has a date of 2-6-42. The Mystic #8 is March 1942.
I think there is an Exciting Comics behind him - either #16 or #17. And the Crack is most likely #21?
-
Both highly desirable issues sold at Heritage for approx. $20,000 in 2008.
Which one would you choose, and why?
No brainer here. Batman 1. It's ten times the book the Marvel 9 is
Yep.

Three freshly slabbed Timelys.
Those are great books - I too love the #36. What an intriguing design - has anyone checked the Atlantic Ocean lately
-
I wish I could play in this thread more often. But I did manage to add this one recently. Lower grade but I love this cover.
-
A struggle for me - That Subby is so NICE but I would go with the Marvel #1.
-
A big thank you to Shane (kryptonitecomics) for a sweet Black Terror #15. Thanks again!

Suspense for me - easy call.

if that smattering contains a dynamic 8 or punch 12, have i told you lately by just how much you are my favorite boardie?
Sorry Billy - My Dynamics consist of 1, 12, 14, 18 through 23. My Punch issues are 1, 10, 21, 22. The Punch 12 is one of my favorite covers and the Dynamic 8 ain't too shabby either. I've seen those issues turn up occasionally (metro has a low grade restored Punch 12 right now). Are they that difficult to find or are you shooting for a certain grade?
I will be on the lookout - Being your favorite boardie does have a somewhat perverse appeal
-
i don't collect the star titles, seem more like centaurs anyway, or the feature funnies, as nowhere in that lineage is there a s'hero appearance, but i am after all the rest of the cheslers. now missing only a dynamic and a punch. i've shot the group with the holes in the appropriate place.
I love this group shot thread so much. It's always fun to see a bunch of GA books together. Great grouping, Billy - I have a smattering of Cheslers - some of the most outrageous covers of the GA.

I was thinking of doing a separate thread, titled "Nice people", but I don't want to embarrass him, more than I'm doing now.
I need to thank Mike, Flatrock02, for this book, and for an extraordinary act of kindness. Not only did he find the book for me at an auction, but when I tried to bid and found the online bidding was closed, he actually CALLED the auctioneer asked him to make sure it was complete, then left a bid on his own and insisted on paying for shipping the book to me, he wouldn't even let me add that to the bid price.
There are so many wonderful people on here, and I've been very lucky to have wonderful interactions with many of them, but this was just extra nice...
On top of this, I've been trying to remember the nice boarder who PM'd me 2 years ago, after seeing the sensations listed in my signature, to tell me there was an auction near me, where I could go bid...and it turns out it was Mike, then, too...
Kudos on that other thread, would just not be enough! I Don't care that the book is lower grade, I absolutely love it more than I would a 9.0, because of the history which is now attached, and I will keep it for a long time. (worship Thank you, Mike! )
Sharon - That is a feel good story that I love to hear about comics. And a great book to boot.

Just got these images from CGC.
Way cool. Congrats

A big THANKS to bubbagump (Rick) for a HC OSPG. Came in today - dealing with Rick was true pleasure - thanks again.

Oops!...I posted the Blue Circle (not a Timely ) in wrong thread!
Hopefully, I can make amends with this recent purchase:

My 1st Fiction House Book
What a way to start - Congrats - a very cool cover

agree...HT 23 is one of my favs...if that was the heritage copy, I bid on it and forgot to put in my "final" bid sunday night...so, congrats ...
Thanks, this is a different copy. The HA was a 6.5. I do know a fellow boardie won that one though.

since it appears i'll never get the last one, i went ahead and took a gap-toothed photo of the all minus 1.
Even missing the one - still an amazing run, BP. Very cool indeed
thanks t; i'm going to post a complete run of victory comics when you finally see your way to selling me #4. i'm going to dedicate the picture to you; i'm just that kind of guy.
it is PLOD you know -

My HT #23 arrived today. I also picked up my first Cap (restored but still my first). Somewhat disgruntled the slab got cracked in shipment - comic not affected at least

Thanks.
I think the Planets in this auction were, in general, a great deal with most going for under guide. I really like the early issues with the old logo better than the later issues, but they are all pretty nice. IMO you got the deal of the run on the #3 — 9.0 with a beautiful black cover and white pages and $800 under guide!!!!!!
Great pickups and a huge chunk out of your wantlist crossed off. (thumbs u
— Rick
I was shocked to win the 3. I dont usually pick up 9.0s, usually a grade or two under, but at 75% of guide, I cant complain. With the twelve planets I picked up in this auction, I'm now officially past the half way point on the run.
Mike - that is awesome. So many great covers on those Planets. Keep going

Superman #1 for me.

Remember the Saturday Night Live Characters - The Ambiguously Gay Duo.
Well I think I found the inspiration. Maybe someone has noted this before. I just finished reading Prize Comics #40. Take a look at some of these panels from the Flying Fist and Bingo strip (even the names are full of innuendos ) . Not that there is anything wrong with this.
The beach exercises are hilarious.
