  1. I hope all the non believers will come back and post comments.
  2. That book was in a 7.5 slab with white pages. I busted it open to enjoy it a long time ago (do not own it any longer). The whole dang book was white. Point is CGC got this one bullseye. Not saying they get all of them correct.
  3. thanks but my avatar is a different book. I've been through several, only own 1. just speaking for myself, pq is/has always been important. probably the first thing I look(ed) at even in the pre-CGC days.
  4. See my Avatar? Graded with white pages. So CGC got one correct.
  5. I would totally pass on the "tannish-miswrapped" book were I lookng for an 8.0 and I think others would question it. So is that a 261k decrease? I know this has been cussed and discussed x times but PQ does have an impact on the value otherwise why the heck would CGC even label it? J, do you really believe that White pages on a key will not trump the same grade in C/OW?
  6. All grades, esp the higher grades, are pretty much going to bring higher prices based on the eye appeal, noted flaws, PQ etc. It's like a diamond (type of cut, brilliant... , clarity V1..., etc). That's the point I'm making.
  7. But if I was still in the AF hunt, I woulda passed on the CC 8.0. But I'm super picky.
  8. Yes, an impressive price but I can almost assure you if a nicer 8.0 comes up it will hit closer to the 261k target, and may surpass it. I believe the tanning and miswrap impacted the hammer.
  9. Gorgeous book. The creases on the upper right will probably keep the "upgraders & pressers" away.
  10. Note the tanning at the top. Some collectors will pass on this.
  11. Cool. The movie masks I recall were 34.95 and the matching hands were 17.95 (or something close to this). High quality stuff. Could never afford those.
  12. Were these masks available at Captain Company (in the FM issues) ? I don't recall them. Cool.
  13. It's all good. I was trying to steer in the direction of all the "good" in the book. Your post happened to be the last one before my post. Don't take it personal. It's the holidays!
  14. I personally think it's one of the finest copies that has been on the Boards in awhile. Eye popping colors, ultra clean grays, premium quality PQ, etc. Bob's comments on the history makes it that much more special. I cannot even fathom what it will fetch. We can argue all day about what's wrong with it, what grade it shoulda coulda been, but it has achieved the Big 3 grade plateau (9.4, 9.6, 9.8). That's all that matters, really. ..
  15. Like we told you the book is an outstanding copy. Many of us collectors know a thing or two about comics, too. We don't need confirmation that this book is nice. The eye appeal is telling. It is nice to hear it was a raw 9.4 and simply slabbed.
  16. I think you are over analyzing this book. It's a 9.4 for a reason. Bright colors, clean grays, nice pages, etc. Very few of these are available in the collector's market.
  17. Pretty damn sure this is a sooper dooper copy. I trust CGC to at least hit the target, maybe not the bullseye.
