what to look for in a large storage bin lot?

26 posts in this topic

Going to see 17000 book group of books tomorrow. The guy said he bought them from a storage sale over 10 years ago and has not done anything with them since then.

the books are supposed to be between 60c and 1.25 cover price.

What books should I look for in that range to see if it is worth picking up the lot? The first thing that came to my mind was the ASM 298-300, but could not quickly think of what else was worth$$ from that period as I am mainly SA/GA collector

They are not bagged or boarded, and I am sure they are not sorted.

The asking price is very cheap and he wants to get rid of them b4 the next month on his storage bin is due

I'd look for spiders. I hate those big huge spiders that jump out of nowhere, bite you, then you're in the doctor's office with some bizarre flesh-eating disease.

Definitely spiders.

His asking price is only 1k so that works out to be between 5 and 6 cents apiece. I doubt that the books have been read. most likely dealer stock that went out of business and then left the storage facility go rather than keep paying for it.

Hopefully there will be at least a good mix of Spidey's X-men and Batman in there to make the effort worthwhileb

This kind of stuff, especially if it's from an old comic store, is always picked through and absolutely full of :censored:. I wish you luck, but be prepared for the worst.

That is an excellent point.
