Color differences on Amazing Spider-man #330

I don't think there has ever been any discussion of a variant or error coloration of this cover. In my experience, I've noticed the same thing as you - that the background hue can vary widely on this issue.

 

 

There is actually a variant of this issue. It is a JC Penney's issued reprint and has a full spider-man figure, instead of the Spider-Man head in the UPC box.

 

Though, it is not related to the color variation as listed in the original thread.
