Seriously I'm looking at buying some really expensive books and now knowing what's going on with the modifications of 8.5's to 9.2's very wary.

Are we being baited?

Scary situation at the very least.

What modifications?...

Ah! Re-submitted books! Interesting.

Well. My thought is that this demonstrates the subjectivity of grading and the fuzzy line on what restoration is.

Regardless. If you are collecting for pleasure, then just buy the books in the grades you want. If it's graded 9.6 and in a slab, then it is a 9.6 when you go to sell it anyhow.

This re-afirms my faith in not going crazy for 9.2 to 9.8 books. Give me two nice 8.5's to fill my collection any day!

Proceed with extreme caution.

Advice: Buy reader copies and invest elsewhere.
