I believe that Monday is the 50th anniversary of the release of #122.

I still remember my buddy Mike, asking me in the back yard of my house, "You like Spider Man, don't you?"

"They killed his girlfriend!"

We walked about two blocks to the drug store, I bought this and that's really when it all began.

That's a great story.  Love hearing small tales like this.

My older brother told me he had this issue but it was stolen when he left all his comics in the car when they shipped our car to Hawaii.  I just tried to imagine it in my head as he started me on the collecting path.

I was about three years behind you, with issue 153 being my first official issue off the stands.  Seems like yesterday.

This was the first ASM book I bought at the grocery store when I became what I think of as "a collector."  I had no idea - other than what was referenced in the book - about previous happenings.  Shortly thereafter I discovered a store that sold "back issues" and picked up #121 as one of my first purchases there.  Wonderful memories.

That's still some nice popping colors on that book, after 50 years.
