The first issue you read was the one that was out (or cover-dated) the month you were born and you had to decide on future collecting based on that issue?

 

For me, the cover-dated issue would be Fantastic Four #34:

 

 

... which has to be one of my least favorite issues ever. Nice as the Kirby/Stone art is, the story is rather pedestrian.

 

On the other hand, if I went with the likely on-the-stand issue:

 

 

there's no question that I would have been just as hooked as I am now.

I was one month away from a really great ASM issue (200). As is, I come with FEB 1980 and ASM 201. Can't complain as it's not a bad issue- Punisher and all.
