Romita Sr. did a very little sketch for me but JRJR did a bunch of nice size quick sketchs, they were both extremely nice, kudos to the cgc booth for setting that up it was such a pleasure to meet them both, definitely a great experience!

Failures... Frank Miller (as reported by others), Jim Lee (tougher and tougher to get books done by Jim), Joe Quesada (nigh impossible), Garth Ennis (was he even there), Phil Jimenez (he was never there when we went)

Ennis was the ONLY Sig I wanted. :frustrated:

Can anyone confirm his absence?

Chandler, did you find him?

I can confirm his absence. I went to the dan dare panel 20 minutes before it ended and nobody was there. So unless they ended it early it got cancelled.

As for Frank Miller 1 book got signed for signature series and it wasn't at the signing it was after the signing when frank was out back having a smoke. He would have signed more but security was tight.

Information on the Miller signing was lacking, to say the least.

The word on the street, even before the signing, was that he was only going to be signing The Spirit movie poster, and that's exactly what he did during the 1 hour he was scheduled to sign on Saturday afternoon. He did not sign at the Dark Horse booth as he has done in the past. We did not accept any Miller requests at the CGC booth.

Many of the Witnesses lined up for hours to get tickets to attend the signing and were not warned that he was only going to sign only the poster by the con staff, and many took a chance that once they got in front of him that he would sign for them... Kris was extremely lucky to be in the wrong place at the right time and caught Frank at a good moment for the one book he signed before security cut him off.

Well, this info has me more than a little upset :censored::censored::censored:

Coupled with the fact that someone mentioned in another thread (The CAL meltdown #347 thread?) that "ALL" books that DESERTWINDCOMICS got signed (shrug)

Sorry to hear that, please contact Chandler for details. We don't have official confirmation that he didn't show other than no one said they could find him and his Dan Dare panel didn't happen when scheduled. Perhaps Chandler and Sharon were able to locate him?

Kevin Is right about this I was extremely lucky. Not only did he sign the one book he was nice about it. Infact I am of the belief that if security didn't stop him he would have signed all the books.

From my years working in conventions I can tell you that show security are given a specific task when escorting guests from one area to another, and the guest is never supposed to be put in the position of being the "bad guy" to say no to autograph seekers or people wanting to take photographs. Guests are usually on a strict timeline and a late or ticked off guest could cost the security guard their job. Their job is to say no to people that might approach the guest on their way to and from a signing, as they did with Mr. Moore with Mr. Miller. Kris was very lucky Frank signed the one item for him before they stopped him.
