I was one of the 7.0 s on this one. Graded it like I normally grade again. I'm sorry- that back cover... just seemed a little too discolored for the higher grades. More shooting from the hip and adding the bump again. :tonofbricks:

Congrats to Blackwolvie for moving back up to a tie with toro for the lead :applause:

Congrats to JeffreyKli, marvelcollector, namisgr, theWatcher, and Worldsbestcomics for moving 21 spots up the charts this round. (thumbs u

Unfortunately, blue808 and ffcomics account for this round's largest drops with 27 places. :(

Meanwhile, perennial third place finisher Divad inches ever closer to the leaders...

Some ODD Stats

toro has never dropped below 4th place in this grading contest. Toro has been tied for 1st or in the sole lead for 11 out of 14 rounds.

Blackwolvie started out in 14th place and has never gone lower. This is the first round that Blackwolvie has tied for 1st place. He has been in the top 10 for 13 out of 14 rounds.

Divad started out in 1st place, dropped as low as 29th, and has since worked his way back up to 3rd. He has been in 3rd place for FOUR rounds.

Point Five's lowest round was 23rd in the 3rd round. He's been in the top 10 for the last nine rounds.

Silverage12c's lowest round was 23rd in the 3rd round. He's been in the top 10 for the last nine rounds.

Aces has been in the top 10 for the last 9 rounds and 11 rounds out of 14.

october and divad have been in the top 10 for the last 8 rounds. (Divad for 11 out of 14 rounds.)

The person with the second highest total of Tied for 1st rounds is actually moloch who was tied for first for FIVE rounds. moloch was in the top 10 for 12 out of 14 rounds before dropping out the last two rounds.

Of the people who withdrew or dropped out, only RJPB cracked the top 10 (in Round 3).

The player with the greatest differential is skynwalker whose highest place was 1st and lowest place was 130th.

(I have these stats because the worksheet that tracks who drops out also shows these stats. ;) )

I went 7.5 and was worried about being generous.

This has been a very strange contest for me.... usually I get better as it drags on, but I'm sinking pretty fast with the undergrading undertow.

I'm bowing out. If that is a 9.2 then I have a :censored: load of submitting to do.

Never pegged you as a quitter Richie.. :baiting: I thought you were, ya know....stubborn.

Looking at the number of undergrades given in each round supports the theory that there is a continuing develoupment of stricter grading standards in the hobby. We all know how much the standards have changed over the last 25 years, but IMO on these boards alone, I think the propensity to assign a strict grade is even greater. I myself have consistently ungraded in nearly every round. I have always thought that many of the books in the grading threads were getting strict grades and usually because no one wants to come on there and post a higher grade than the grade anyone before them posted. Newbies like to come on and grade strict as well, I think they think they are establishing credibility. One reason why I came up with the grading pole rather than the open forum is It doesn't allow people to be influenced by the other gardes given, or feel the need to garde with tighter standards than they normally would.

I'd say the members on these CGC boards may be collectively some of the tightest graders in the hobby.
