shout out to cliff rathburn. i emailed him to see if he'd do an email interview with me. didn't hear back, so i figured he's too busy, plus he's a well known dude, and i'm just some unknown mofo. well, he emailed me back to say sorry, but he's too busy right now. didn't have to do that, but at least he took a minute to email me back.

Some random WD picture porn for stuff back from CGC this week. Freakin shocked on the turnaround time for Modern Fast Track right now compared to non-fast tracked. Sent these out on 7/10 during week of SDCC, checked in on 7/12, grades popped on either the 23rd or 24th and delivered back to me on 7/30 (my wife didn't answer the damn door so I had to pick them up actually this morning). 5 books total so I could have saved $50 if I didn't mind adding 3 months to the turn around time.

Not pictured is the 9.8 WD #53 1st Abraham, ended up taking $130 + shipping for it which I thought wasn't too hateful since I paid less than cover for it originally.

Damn 9.6 #19 that I have zero into the actual book thanks to a beautiful snag of a short run of WD books earlier this year in an off eBay deal. My best deal so far of the year with snagging a run of 13 WD books that included issues #19 - #31 back in March for $150 shipped. Sold all the issues but 19 and 27 for roughly $200 and ended up with this and the 27 pictured below. If only I could get more people to sell me raw WD books at "price guide" prices, whatever in the hell that actually is. :)

Got this one below off a fellow board member (can't remember who offhand but thank you again) roughly a year ago and as promised it is a beautiful copy.

Also this sharp copy thanks to FIREFLY and NM or better means just that when dealing with FIREFLY.

You know what I see here Dre. The same corner of the wall my dog liked to chew as a puppy.

:gossip: nice books BTW

Haha.

Curious in regards to the #100s that are just say the random 1 of 8 comic store released covers or any other fairly recent WD issue, what does a random WD 9.9 go for these days?

I don't know what Dre sells his for, but these ended recently. Both are eBay:

Walking Dead 93 CGC 9.9

Walking Dead 94 CGC 9.9

Lucky seller, both came from the same batch.

I sold the previous 9.9s for a lot less to my regular subscribers but this is a different situation so prices will be higher

I might work it out that each of my subscribers has an opportunity to grab at least one each first, then open up sales to everyone. I'm still figuring it out.

I have 9.9s of almost every cover (I was hoping to get a full set).

I went through a lot of books (thousands) and worked really hard to find the copies I submitted.

In a perfect world I'd be able to offer 9.9s to everyone but that's not the case. But I'm trying to be as fair as possible.

I wonder what people will do if they preordered the Spawn #222. I'm sure Gator will help you out but what about people on eBay and stuff?

I thought he would too

May I ask why? What's Gator supposed to do with the extra 25 copies if they don't sell...eat the cost?

I'd suggest you contact Diamond if you're looking for someone to "help you out"

I'm assuming most people don't understand that the LCS can't return them because the cover changed. As a consumer we are usually afforded options like that.

I bought it not on speculation I bought 25 so I could get the sketch cover and I bought it because it was the walking dead cover homage. How is that my fault?

Not saying it's your fault. It certainly isn't Gator's fault, either.

In all likelihood, he ordered those copies FOR YOU. He still paid for the books, he still receives the books...you think he should refund you because the cover was changed through no fault of his own...?

Well yeah he ordered them for me but thats not what I ordered. I ordered the spawn of the dead cover x25 so I could get the sketch cover as well. The cover change was not my fault so why should the consumer have to buy something they did not ordered? What is your deal?

Actually, what you ordered is Spawn 222. What you are receiving is Spawn 222. It may have been solicited with a different cover, and that may have been your only reason for placing the order, but I'm pretty sure there's some fine print in Previews that says the final cover art may vary. This is usually the case.

I understand your frustration, but your anger is misplaced. If you want someone to blame, then blame Diamond for their order policies, or blame the printer who got the covers mixed up. Blaming Rick is unfair. All he did was accept your order (and he probably offered you a pretty sweet discount while he was at it).

Never once did blame Rick, he is a great guy!

I'll be the first to admit that I assumed too much, and have edited my post to reflect that. :foryou:

You did underline/emphasize the world "thought" when speaking of Rick like he did something wrong. That was my only issue.
