PGM: Cerebus #1 Counterfeit

In hand, it looked like a straight-up 8.5 - just got the grade today, and it came back a 7.5 :pullhair:

 

That made no sense, so I called CGC and the grader's notes were:

- multiple color-breaking spine ticks (as seen in the scan)

- fingerprint identations on the cover

 

Still doesn't make sense (shrug)

I think there is an additional stigma attached to a counterfeit book that causes the grader (either consciously or subconsciously) to be much harsher on a book than they otherwise might be - similar to a restored copy.
