I've got a nice S collection of New Avengers but this one just kills me. I find I am not fan of the Stan Lee fad of having him sign UHG silver Age books.

Yeah, I think this is a big part of it. If it had been a "better" signature, it wouldn't be so jarring and resemble a defect.

sigs belong on the splash page IMO - but if you must get the cover signed to display it in a slab please ask the signer to use pen not marker! I actually saw a book signed in pen on the cover by Stan that looked pretty sharp.

When I met Stan in '94 I had him sign some SA X-men and even an ASM 38 on the cover. Now I regret that, as I prefer to have autographs on the inside of the comic.

I don't mind signatures if they're signed around the time of publication of the issue, but having stan lee sign a book 30 years after the fact takes away the historical value for me.
