Signature Series Opportunities - San Diego Comic Con International July 23-27

I'm pretty confidant that Dan Brereton will be there. If fairly certain that Kieron Dwyer will also be there. Rob Zombie will probably be there (but will he sign?). Not sure about Eddy Barros. I don't think Will Conrad will be there.
Someone PM'd me that Will's only show this year will be at Paradise. There's always next year.

Anyone know if George Perez will be there?

George Perez did MegaCon this year as a surprise and said it would be his only show, he did say he would be starting up again in 09 with MegaCon 09. Hit me up closer to the event, i will more then likely be taking submissions for that show

Do Joe Simon & Larry Lieber attend conventions such as sdcc? I would love to get Joe Simon on a Cap and L.L on a T.O.S #39...

Larry Lieber is scheduled to appear on the Golden/Silver Age Panel this year on Thursday. (As is Jerry Robinson, whom somebody else asked about.) Stan Lee is scheduled to appear on two panels on Thursday as well. The programming for Thursday was posted on the Comic-Con website very briefly on Tuesday and then taken down. It can be found here:

3:30-5:00 Golden and Silver Age of Comics—It’s the amazing annual gathering of the resident greats from the Golden and Silver Ages of comics! Moderated by Mark Evanier, this year’s list of luminaries includes Al Feldstein (EC editor/writer/artist), Victor Gorelick (Archie Comics editor and writer), Al Jaffee (MAD magazine cartoonist), comics writer/artist Larry Lieber, Harvey Comics writer/editor Sid Jacobson, and artists Russ Heath (G.I. Combat, Sgt. Rock) and Jerry Robinson (Batman). Filled with personal reminiscences and anecdotes, this panel promises to be a treasure trove of comics history! Room 8

I'm curious. If someone is showing up for a panel does that usually mean they will sign? is this usually during the panel, after or a random time during the con?

I'd imagine most people that do a panel would not be signing.

I am totally booked for space, if you have made contact with me already I am accounting for you!

Thanks to everyone and I hope my chiropractor is ready for me when I get back... :sumo:

To answer the question of whether someone signs just because they are doing a panel, the answer is usually no, but there are exceptions. The con does set up Autograph times to occur after a panel, and those autograph times are held upstairs near all the panel rooms. Typically, every special guest is asked to do at least 1 signing, but there is no guarantee on that. If you go to their website, and click on Autographs, a few days before the show, you will see if there is a scheduled signing that the Con is organizing.

They do not like it when people stay in the panel rooms and sign afterwards, because they are clearing out the room to get ready for the next panel, and almost every room is booked solid the 4 main days of the show. Do people mob the panel participants at the end for an autograph? Oh, yeah, but it's up to the panel participants whether they stay and sign, move into the hallway and sign, or say, "Sorry, no" as they head back to their booths or somewhere else.

The best bet is if the person has an artist's alley table or sits with their art dealer, like Naked Fat Rave has with artists like Art Adams, J Scott Campbell, Tim Sale, Matt Wagner, etc. That's the best place to get someone's autograph at the show, in my opinion. As for Larry Lieber and Jerry Robinson and the other greats of our industry, I'm really not sure, since their schedules can change based on other committments, meetings, and their energy level. If I knew, I'd tell ya. :)

There, a long answer to your short question. Thanks for reading!

Ok, This is my first time. I will be at the Comic con with a Goon #1. What are my steps? I know there is a CGC booth. Will it be cheaper to make arrangements Before the show? If the creator, draws a picture of the character with his signature will that lower value?

From what I read so far, I need to find a witness, give the witness the book to submit to the SS series?

In additon, Image studios is selling signed and numbed walking dead issues. Do these qualify as Signature Series?

Another question, There's a Goon #3 that's suppose to be limited to 125 with sketech book if I wanted to get that book signed will Signature series say the print run or the difference?

Do what you feel is more comfortable. If you want to make arrangements with a Witness you can, or you can just come by the CGC booth. We may be able to walk over to see Eric and walk back with you (that's if you want a sketch), or you can just leave the book and we take care of getting it signed (no sketch). A sketch with his signature should, in fact, raise the value of the book as you would then have an authenticated sketch and autograph/

In additon, Image studios is selling signed and numbed walking dead issues. Do these qualify as Signature Series?

If they were signed and numbered before the con and not in front of a Witness they can't qualify for Signature Series. A Witness must be present when the book is signed. If they are numbered and not signed, you can get the creator to sign it and the book will receive a lower grade because the numbering is considered writing on the cover.

Another question, There's a Goon #3 that's suppose to be limited to 125 with sketech book if I wanted to get that book signed will Signature series say the print run or the difference?

Well, again, if it's already signed and numbered it's not accepted for Signature Series. If it's hand numbered see above. If it's neither you can get it done. You can suggest the information be added to the label, and I don't see why it wouldn't be noted, as similar things have been done in the past.
