I'm trying to find the right holder because these cheap PO speedball holders for the Hunt 102 just don't do it for me. I'm looking at the Tachikawa T-40 holder now. I recently found a great place online for Copic markers and multiliners as well as refills and replacement nibs. With subs for pencilers, inkers, colorists, computer artist, as well as writers sections. After all these are the basic essentials for the creation of the medium to which we all are here to collect. Penciler's Point <- baseline drawing (either traditional or computer) Brush Past It <- traditional inking (pens, brushes and quills) as well as computer inking Color by Numbers <- traditional coloring as well as computer coloring Writer's Block <- Not sure if this is really a good idea here or not. Most people probably won't share creative story ideas for fear of theft. Show Offs < the ultimate place to show off your work and maybe contests But then again, there might not be enough artist around here to warrant something like this. But who knows. Psithyrus Posted June 9, 2013 Share Posted June 9, 2013 A few people have shared their art backgrounds, and other than a few courses throughout school, I actually had some private lessons with a local caricature artist many years back during my teenage years. I was going to be home over Memorial Day weekend, and I had intended to ask if my parents had run into him at the art fairs, or if he had quit. Before I could ask, my mother informed me that this gentleman had recently passed away. So, given this, I was pretty ecstatic to find some of my old caricatures (from 1994) that weekend, and fondly remembered those classes. I couldn't bring myself to bring them home to Texas with me (my parents like to keep my old art around anyway), but thought maybe I should give them another try, even though I am extremely out of practice. I will soon, I think, but right now, I was thinking about setting up a few outlines of some things I'd like to not only try myself, but perhaps have commissioned in the future. I have no idea why I drew some of this stuff. I guess doodles is a good word for these. Just random stuff that came to mind at the time. I do see a Sergio Arragones influence, and definitely a cartoonist leaning. Heres a few of the pages ..... jimjum12 Posted June 23, 2013 Share Posted June 23, 2013 Hello all, Not sure why I've taken so long to post in this section, but it is what it is. Too busy hunting down my favorite books. Anyway, I've really enjoyed looking at the work here by fellow boardies and want to finally join the fray. Comics got me into art as a kid (big surprise, I know) and that lead me to wanting to learn figurative art by way of anatomy. Anyway, I got my serious start 10 years ago at a traditional Fine Arts academy in Connecticut, but switched to a more conceptual "kitschy" type work several years ago. (although I still teach the academic approach) I'm a draftsman and sculptor, but these days the lines get a little blurred. Anyway, I'll post a few examples of both types of my work.
