Does date stamp bring grade down?

11 posts in this topic

It won't bring the grade down unless it's huge or in a really bad spot on the book. In your case, it shouldn't lower the grade at all.
ditto; if the date stamp was on hal's face then grade would drop like a rock

What if the stamp was on his crotch?

Nothing worse than getting date-stamped in the crotch.

My understanding is that CGC doesn't normally penalize a book for a date stamp, but Overstreet does. The OS Guide definitely specifies how 'egregious' a date stamp can be on a book of a certain grade. So the jury's still out on that one, unless you're only interested in CGC's opinion. (Not that there's anything wrong with that.)
