GPA FOR EXCITING 28

A 5.0 sold last year for $1325. The 9.2 and 9.4 sold 5 and 6 years ago for $5750 and $8338.

The 10K price tag that was on the Church copy (Metro had it) doesn't look so bad now

Vincent brought that book down to Miami for me too look at a couple of months ago. It is an absolutely beautiful book, but I didn't want to shell out the 10K for that book at the time.

And after about 3 years of sitting, the Church copy has vanished from Metro's site. Maybe it's gone back into processing.

I was actually thinking that maybe Metro wasnt insane in their pricing of that book and maybe I should take another look at it... It will probably be back up a price of $13,500 soon.

 

On a tip from another boardie I contacted another big time convention dealer today, and conveniently their lower grade copies of Exciting #28 were now priced at 8X guide...

 

I'm sure it was just a coincidence.

Joe V. also had a low grade in SD. That's what I find interesting about this book. It's around, albeit in low grade. But where do you go if you want an Exciting #31, even a trashed copy? Or #30. The copy of Exciting #30 that Metro listed today is the first I've seen in years, and it's a fair copy with brittle pages. #28 is far from the toughest issue of Exciting.

Its certainly their right (and Metro's too for that matter) to take this sale as the new market level and adjust accordingly. But I think I might need another actual sale at 8X guide before I commit to that much for the book. I am patient, I will wait.

 

As for the book itself, it might not be as rare as some of the surrounding issues, but for my money its the best cover and the one I want most from the run.

There was a #30 on Ebay a few months ago. It was pretty well beat. I would wage wager that the one on Metro now is the same copy.

#36 is another toughy. Only 2 copies in the census, and the highest graded is a 7.5.
