what causes the plastic bag to wrinkle?

48 posts in this topic

I've been re-bagging some books that I've pulled from my auction find and garage sale find. A good amount of the bags are wrinkled. What causes the bags to shrivel up like Peter Parker in Spider-Man Reign?

They're not Mylar? :kidaround:

How old are the bags??

Polypro vs Polyeth and the traditional NUTSAC WRINKLE debate.

Do a search in the forum archives for a loonnnnggg selection.

Then buy some Mylars or Mylites from MR Hotflips.

I would like to move all my books to mylites, but figure 9/10k total books would be a bit expensive. Probably something ill start at tax time in 09 and work on it during the year.

Ok,

Do the polyethylene bags. They yellow up after 10 years or so, and if you

can find the old school 4mil? IE thicker ones, they seem to store better than

the polypro bags. I bought a store remnants selection back at the beginning

of the summer, some 20+ boxes, and canned about 40 lbs of nasty yellow

semi wrinkled bags and boards, but the bronze comics inside were in better

shape than the newer polypro bags. Sold quite a few nice white/offwhite

here to other forumites.
