O/A board question

10 posts in this topic

why dont people list art for sale on here? why is it always a link to somewhere else? im dyin to get into O/A but dont want to deal with ebay and the such. why is it not as easy as buying books on here?

The do, in the Original Comic Art Marketplace forum :)

Some post links to auctions, but a lot of folks post links to their CAF site for a direct sale...some even post scans here...

The market is a lot smaller than the comic market here on the boards so you need to be patient.

You may want to put a Want List post and see what happens. Art is tougher to come by than books, and oftentimes even harder to pry loose from collections. At least with a want list posted, people know to contact you should something come their way.

Bootom line: collecting OA entails more hard work (and hence is more fun, I'd say) than collecting books.

Best,

Let all the dealers know. That is something that there isn't much competition over, so you should be able to get some good deals. This sort of art is usually in the bulk deals that dealers purchase, so having them know that you're a buyer for it will help them consummate a deal and then call you up.

If you want an idea of which dealers would be most likely to dig up that sort of thing, PM me.

Welcome to the hobby.
